仁和寺 : 天皇家と空海、そして真の優しさが息づく寺 Ninna-ji : Imperial Grace and True Kindness Still Alive

京都・仁和寺は、宇田天皇によって創建された、天皇家と深い縁を持つ寺院である。
ここに、空海の精神が重なり、仁和寺は「雅」と「真の優しさ」が自然に息づく場となった。

かつて拝観時に財布を忘れた際、若い僧侶が迷いなく手を差し伸べてくれた。
この寺では、善行が理念ではなく、日常として実践されている。

学生時代の修学旅行以来、仁和寺の記憶が今も鮮明なのは、
建築や歴史以上に、この寺が放つ深い優しさと品格が心に刻まれていたからである。

フランスの哲学者ロラン・バルトは、仁和寺金堂の造形を通して、日本を「表徴の帝国」と捉えた。
今日の仁和寺訪問は、その言葉の意味を、静かに、しかし確かに実感させてくれた。

Ninna-ji in Kyoto was founded by Emperor Uda and has long been deeply connected to the Imperial family.
Enriched by the spiritual legacy of Kūkai, the temple embodies elegance, brightness, and genuine compassion.

During one visit, after realizing I had forgotten my wallet, a young monk quietly lent me money without hesitation.
At Ninna-ji, kindness is not an abstract ideal—it is a lived, everyday practice.

This temple has remained vivid in my memory since my student days, not only for its history or architecture, but for its atmosphere of sincere gentleness and dignity.

The French philosopher Roland Barthes once described Japan as an “Empire of Signs,” inspired by the details of Ninna-ji’s Golden Hall.
Today’s visit reaffirmed that insight—silently, beautifully, and unmistakably.
