東日本大震災のただ中で、著者は会社の専務とともに京都へ向かった。
知恩院にするか二条城にするかを迷いながら、新快速の車中で朝日新聞を読み、京都駅で考え直し、予定通り二条城へ向かう。
その日に撮影した写真は、あえてすべて「無題」として掲載すると記した短い記録である。

In the midst of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the author traveled to Kyoto with his company’s managing director.
While considering whether to go to Chion-in or Nijo Castle, he read the Asahi morning edition on the rapid train, reconsidered at Kyoto Station, and decided to proceed to Nijo Castle as originally planned.
This is a brief record stating that all the photographs taken that day would be published untitled.

弊社専務も、「そうした方が良いよ」と同行してくれて、先週に予定していた通り、昼頃に京都に向かった。
新快速の車中で朝日の朝刊を読んだ。
自然に信心深い人でもある専務は、知恩院の方が良いのでは、と。
そうしようかと思ったのだが、京都駅のトイレに寄った時に、やっぱり、予定通り、二条城に行こう、と。

Our managing director also came with me, saying, “That would be better,” and as we had planned the previous week, we headed for Kyoto around noon.
On the Special Rapid train, I read the morning edition of the Asahi.
The managing director, who is by nature also a devout person, said that Chion-in might be better.
I thought we might do that, but when I stopped by the restroom at Kyoto Station, I decided that, after all, we should go to Nijo Castle as originally planned.
