東日本大震災と福島第一原発事故のただ中で、著者は、首相をはじめとする政治指導部と言論人たちの責任を厳しく問う。
救助の黄金の72時間を空費した視察、危機の中でも権力維持を優先したかのような振る舞い、そして市場の暴落に右往左往する20世紀資本主義への怒りが綴られる。
同時に、日本はヒロシマ・ナガサキから立ち上がった国であり、今こそ自国の企業と国民の力で21世紀の資本主義を築くべきだと訴える記録である。

In the midst of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear crisis, the author fiercely questions the responsibility of political leaders and media commentators.
He condemns the waste of the crucial seventy-two hours for rescue, the conduct of leaders who seemed to prioritize political survival even in catastrophe, and the panic of twentieth-century capitalism amid the market collapse.
At the same time, he insists that Japan is a nation that rose from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and that now is the moment to build a twenty-first-century capitalism supported by Japan’s own people, companies, and national will.

帰宅してニュースを見ていたら、何ちゅう、話かと言う様なことが。
私は、本当に思う。
こんな人間…全く大将の器にあらざる者を首相にする事に血道を上げた…何度も書いた通り…論説員達は二度と表舞台に出てくるな、と。
原発の状況、そして、この様な大災害の時には生存の分かれ道は７２時間だということは世界の常識なのに、彼は自分が視察をするまでは対策を決定できないとして、ほぼ一日を空費した。
地震があった１１日の４０分後には、日本中の国民がテレビの映像で見て知っていた…それも、かつて誰も見た事がない空前の映像だった…のに、通常の災害時の様に…お約束事として視察等と称する事を為す必要が何処に在ったのか！…
国民の前に、自分が首相として頑張っている事、自分は首相に相応しいと、見せる絶好の機会だと考えていた以外に説明のしようがないだろう。
全ての被災者にとっての７２時間、の内の、まるまる一日が、この男の視察とやらのために空費されたのである。
おまけに、原発が、これほどの状況で在った時に、全くの技術的部外者でしかない者が、首相として登場して、…関係者全員が死ぬ気で作業していなければならない時に…視察などと言う何の足しにもならない事のために、時間を割かれた…
これらは、この人物の場合には、起死回生の格好の舞台として、国民に姿を現す事が出来る…
これが、あの時の現首相の頭の中に在った本音だろう。
こんな者を首相として崇めた者たちは二度と言論界の表舞台に出てきてはならぬ。
この男も、言葉ではなく、この仕事を終えたら死んでしまう位の覚悟で当面必要な事に対して…為さなければならぬ、ありとあらゆる方策を、己が頭の限りを尽くして為した＝自分の致命的なミスを必死で挽回した＝後は、速やかに退陣すべきだ。
くそっ！。

万々一、福島原発で炉心溶融が起きたとしても、ヒロシマ・ナガサキ以上では有り得ないじゃないか。
原爆を落とした人達にも言いたいし、落とされた私たちは、今日、こうして、実質的には、今だって世界第二の超大国を作って居るじゃないか。
株屋の類が、日本株は、どうのこうの、とヘチマを言ってるが…ならば国で全部買い占めろ。
但し、投げ売りに出ているのだから、大幅にディスカントして。
日本の優秀な企業群が、たちまちにして、ボロに成ったかのような扱いを為し、物言いを為す様な輩は、二度と、国の経済に口を出させるな。
株屋の免許を取り上げろ。…
家康殿なら、佐渡が島に島流しにしている所だろうし、佐渡が島なら、それほどに恐れているらしい放射能からも免れるから、丁度良いじゃないか。
ヒロシマ・ナガサキに原爆が投下された時に、日本中を覆ったであろう放射線は、今回の福島の比ではなかろう。
それで日本人は滅んだのか？
日本人は皆、放射能に関係した病気に成ったのか？
こんな連中に支配されている20世紀資本主義にピリオドを打てるのが今だと私は思う。
個人資産を使わなくても良い。
国債を、この2日間に失った時価総額51兆円分に成るまで、明日、又しても売り込まれるようなら、その時点で市場を閉鎖して…
その時点の価格で51兆円分、外資が保有している日本株、或いは、日本人でも構わない…買って行けばよいのだ。
東証一部上場企業の平均配当は約2.5％だから、国債の利子を払ってもおつりが来る。

日本経済のファンダメンタルズは変わっていない。
中枢は全くやられていないと、何もしないで、マイクの前で言ったって、資本主義の餓鬼達には通用しないんだよ。
21世紀の資本主義を作るんだよ。
自分達の国の優秀な企業群の株は、自分達の国が持つ、配当も自分達が得る。
外資の比率は、忽ち3割ぐらいに落ちるだろう。
自分達の国は自分達で守るには、それ位で丁度良いのだ。
彼らが、後に、何とか売ってくれと言って来た時には、最高値で売ればいい。
但し、彼等の保有比率は3割以下に留めて置けばよい。
それが私たちの愛する国を守ること、日本を守ることだと私は思う。
外資はこう言ってるだとか、外国はこう考えているだとか、資本主義の餓鬼たちが言う事を聞いたりすることは、もう止めても良いんだ。
今までの様に、いな、戦後の焼け野原から、皆で頑張って働いた様に、私たちの特質であるdecencyを発揮して、今、世界最高級の企業は、更に最高級に、これから最高級に羽ばたいて行く企業は…日本国と国民が一緒にバックアップして…史上最高、最良の株主として、研究、技術、営業力に磨きをかけさせようではないか。

When I returned home and watched the news, there was something so outrageous that one could only ask what kind of absurdity this was.
I truly think this.
As I have written many times, those editorial writers who devoted themselves to making prime minister a man who was in no way fit to be a commander must never again appear on the public stage.

Those who revered such a man as prime minister must never again appear on the front stage of public discourse.
As for this man as well, not with words, but after doing everything that had to be done for what was immediately necessary, with the resolve to die once this work was finished…
Exhausting every measure that had to be taken with the full extent of his own mind＝desperately compensating for his fatal mistake＝after that, he should resign at once.
Damn it!.
Japan is a country that had atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and rose again from there.

Have people forgotten, after more than twenty years of watching idiotic television, that Japan is a country on which atomic bombs were dropped at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and that it rose again from there?…
Even if, by the remotest chance, core meltdown were to occur at Fukushima, it could not possibly be worse than Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
I want to say this to those who dropped the bombs as well, and to we who had them dropped on us…
Even today, have we not in practical terms built what is still the world’s second superpower?
The stockbrokers and their kind say this and that about Japanese stocks, but then let the nation buy all of them up.
Only, since they are being thrown away in a panic, buy them at a steep discount.
Those who speak as though Japan’s excellent companies had instantly become worthless rags should never again be allowed to speak on the nation’s economy.
Strip stockbrokers of their licenses.…
If Lord Ieyasu were here, he would probably exile them to Sado Island, and since Sado Island would also spare them from the radiation they seem to fear so much, that would be just right.

We may stop listening now to what the brats of capitalism say about what foreign capital says, or what foreign countries think.
As we did before, indeed as we all worked hard together from the burned wasteland after the war, let us display our own national quality of decency, and let the companies that are now among the world’s finest become even finer, and let those that will now take flight toward the highest rank be backed by the Japanese state and the Japanese people together…
Let us, as the greatest and best shareholders in history, sharpen their research, technology, and sales strength.
