Is the perspective expressed in a major Japanese newspaper truly representative of a nation’s voice?
This article questions whether such self-denigrating commentary would ever be written by leading newspapers about their own countries elsewhere in the world.

As I have already written, since August of the year before last I have been skimming the Asahi Shimbun.
It is not so much that I read it, but rather that I monitor it with the firm resolve that I will never again allow them to inflict enormous damage on Japan, nor to tarnish the honor and credibility of the Japanese people.
I am determined never again to permit such foolishness.
I often hardly read the evening edition at all, but yesterday I happened to pick it up, and what caught my eye was the column “Soryushi.”

Anyone with a sound mind, upon reading the article below, should recognize how abnormal it is.
It proved, to an almost sickening degree, that there are countless abnormal individuals like Wakamiya Yoshifumi within this newspaper company.

The following is yesterday’s “Soryushi.”

*What do you think when you see the charred uniform of a schoolgirl?
I want to hear President Obama’s voice.
And I also want to hear the voices of the atomic bomb victims.

Then is it unnecessary to lay flowers at Pearl Harbor?
What about China?
Should we not also listen to the voices of the souls of foreigners who died unjust deaths?*

Who would think that this was written by a sane Japanese citizen?

This is the brain of a person hardened by what is called self-abasing ideology, or anti-Japanese ideology.

A brain steeped in the ideologies of the All-Campus Joint Struggle movement or communism, a brain filled with sham moralism, a mass of incorrigible thought convinced that it is the righteous Moonlight Mask—all of it is laid bare here.
There are no words more ugly than these.
Because the writer is completely unaware of this ugliness, it becomes all the more grotesque.

Ah, people of Japan!
How much longer do you intend to allow such a newspaper company to trample upon Japan, a country that is the most peaceful and safest in the world, and that possesses the highest level of intellect and freedom on earth?

The Asahi has changed in no way whatsoever.

They are not a Japanese newspaper company.

Their perspective is not that of Japanese people.

In the first place, is the person who wrote this really Japanese?

Is he not a Zainichi Korean?

I want to ask the people of the world who have long believed the Asahi Shimbun to be a newspaper representing Japan.

Does the editorial writer of the newspaper that represents your country write about his own country from such a perspective?

Do you think this kind of writing reflects the attitude of someone who loves his own country?
