The Destruction of Nuclear Power by Personal Grudge — Shinichi Tanaka and the Nuclear Regulation Authority
Japan’s nuclear shutdown, including the termination of Monju and the dismantling of the fuel cycle, is said to stem from the personal resentment of NRA Chairman Shinichi Tanaka. This article exposes how ideology and personal grudges—not science or safety—have driven the collapse of Japan’s nuclear policy.

It is said that this too is rooted in the personal resentment of Shinichi Tanaka of the Nuclear Regulation Authority.
The following continues from the previous chapter.
At present, nuclear power plants are shut down, Monju—the core of the nuclear fuel cycle—has been destroyed, and reprocessing facilities are heading toward abolition.
It is said that this too is rooted in the personal resentment of Shinichi Tanaka of the Nuclear Regulation Authority.
Indeed, the moment he became chairman, a “basic policy” was issued that made immediate reactor restarts impossible, shutting down not only commercial reactors but even university research reactors.
On top of that, requirements such as investigating faults going back 100,000 years at plant sites, or decommissioning reactors after 40 years, were imposed one after another as barriers to restart.
In particular, obsessive harassment has been directed at TEPCO Fukushima.
Large volumes of groundwater flow daily into contaminated areas, yet discharge is blocked under the pretext of fishermen’s opposition.
As contaminated water continues to accumulate, Tanaka merely harasses TEPCO by saying it is “not engaging properly with fishermen.”
He makes no effort whatsoever to persuade the media that generate harmful rumors, nor to explain matters to fishermen.
He simply sits back arrogantly.
A graduate of Tohoku University, Tanaka belonged during his time at the Tokai nuclear research institute to a marginalized group that merely resented the University of Tokyo–educated mainstream.
As a result, despite being a nuclear scientist, he jumped into the anti-nuclear camp and became ideologically radicalized.
Spotted by Naoto Kan, he now takes revenge on the Power Reactor and Nuclear Fuel Development Corporation created by the mainstream, enjoying the destruction of nuclear power.
It appears as though the resentment of Kan—once driven out with stones—clings to him like a lingering spirit.
Everyone ends up becoming Korean-like in mentality.
