The Crime of Distorting Ise Grand Shrine — The Complicity of Asahi Shimbun and NHK

Asahi Shimbun has never conveyed the truth that Ise Grand Shrine is among the greatest sacred sites in the world.
NHK’s Buratamori episode on Ise followed the same distorted narrative, deliberately obscuring the spiritual core of Japanese culture.

After watching that program, any discerning person who visits Ise Grand Shrine for the first time will inevitably feel anger rising from the depths of their heart.

Having subscribed to and closely read Asahi Shimbun for many years, I can say with certainty that the paper has never conveyed the fact that Ise Grand Shrine is so magnificent that it could be called the greatest in the world.
Even when reporting on the customary visits by successive prime ministers to Ise Grand Shrine, it did so only reluctantly. Those who have long subscribed to and closely read the Asahi Shimbun would never have felt a desire to visit Ise Grand Shrine. Far less would they have felt compelled to go.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that Japanese television, especially commercial broadcasting, exists for entertainers, yet I have acknowledged Tamori. However, the Ise Grand Shrine episode of NHK’s series Buratamori, aired recently, followed exactly the same line as the Asahi Shimbun.
What this signifies is that within NHK’s production divisions, there are not a few individuals who grew up subscribing to and closely reading the Asahi Shimbun.
Masayuki Takayama, the one and only journalist in the postwar world, has taught us that amid the chaos of defeat, many resident Koreans infiltrated media organizations, with NHK at the forefront, as employees. The program in question proves that this is entirely true and that they have exerted great influence over media content.
To be blunt, this Ise Grand Shrine episode was the worst. This is because it was a malicious production that deliberately avoided conveying the spiritual essence of Ise Grand Shrine. It can also be said that Tamori’s inherent frivolity, a problematic aspect of his character, was skillfully exploited by NHK. In any case, it was a truly abysmal program.
After watching that program, any discerning person who visits Ise Grand Shrine for the first time will inevitably feel anger rising from the depths of their heart.
