This essay revisits a chapter first published on March 14, 2018, using Smerdyakov from Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov as a metaphor to examine the mentality of the Asahi Shimbun, NHK, and those who align with them.
It depicts, through powerful symbolic language, the distortions of postwar Japan born under GHQ occupation, subservience to China and the Korean Peninsula, political attacks carried out through the Moritomo Gakuen issue, and the essential nature of discourse that seeks to weaken Japan itself.

They are trying to offer Japan itself up for the sake of the countries to which they now devote themselves, China and the Korean Peninsula.
That is the true figure of the Asahi Shimbun, which is Smerdyakov itself, and of those who sympathize with it.

The Smerdyakovs are trying to sink Japan, their real father, and offer it up for the sake of the countries to which they now devote themselves, China and the Korean Peninsula.
Last night, because I went to sleep earlier than usual, I woke earlier than usual as well.
The people around me must surely have known that I possessed a mind given to me by God.
That is precisely why I was loved by them and why I loved them.
It was from a dream, one that perhaps only I could have seen, that I awoke.
For Smerdyakov himself appeared.
Smerdyakov from Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov, which I had finished reading when I was in middle school.
It was so extraordinary that, although I had wanted to sleep a little longer, I decided to get out of bed.
The employees of the Asahi Shimbun are Smerdyakovs.
Those who sympathize with the Asahi Shimbun.
Or who have sympathized with it, the so-called … people….
Their symbol is the small number of so-called people now demonstrating in front of the Diet shouting, Abe, resign, Aso, resign….
And those other small groups as well….
It is no exaggeration to say that most of them are communists….
That is to say, people mobilized by the Communist Party and by parties of similar political operators….
And NHK publicizes this as though it were some tremendously large demonstration, saying things like they are spilling out onto the sidewalks….
They are all Smerdyakovs.
For the first time in recorded history, Japan lost a war and was occupied by another country….
The occupier was GHQ.
And they are the illegitimate children produced by that GHQ.
That is their essence, and that is all that they are.
When GHQ ceased to exist, they, who had to go on living as illegitimate children….
This time became the illegitimate children of China and the Korean Peninsula.
And so now, the ambitions of the countries they take as their parents are these….
The moment Japan shows weakness, militia will be landed on the Senkaku Islands and the invasion completed….
Then Okinawa too will be invaded and made their territory.
The other side wants, through fabricated history issues, to keep Japan forever a political prisoner in the international community and a country that committed war crimes, from which they can extort money whenever it suits them….
But this is
a common attitude, indeed a philosophy, of both China, a country whose original nature is one of bottomless evil and plausible lies, and the Korean Peninsula, which since ancient times was its subordinate.
The Asahi Shimbun….
The Asahi Shimbun, that illegitimate child of theirs which ruled Japan until August four years ago, and those who sympathize with it,
now face the final chance to kill Japan, which in truth is their real parent….
For them, Japan is their real parent….
And these illegitimate children first born of GHQ….
And now born between China and the Korean Peninsula….
