What Kiyomi Tsujimoto’s Call to Abolish the Imperial System Reveals—Questioning Her Views on the Monarchy, Security, and North Korea—
This essay critically examines statements attributed to Kiyomi Tsujimoto calling for the abolition of the imperial system, the abandonment of the Japan-U.S. security framework, and the prioritization of normalizing relations with North Korea. It also touches on anti-imperial demonstrations and debates over links with pro-Korean activist circles, reconsidering the role of the Imperial House and the Japanese state.

As for the Constitution, I am now described as a “defender of the Constitution,” but to tell the truth, I do not think Articles 1 through 8 are necessary.
I have long been saying that the imperial system should be abolished.

By abolishing the imperial system, having a woman become prime minister, and abolishing the security framework, Japan can make a major turn

This is also a chapter I published on 2018-04-18 under the title
Is it really the case that being Korean, and also being a woman, makes one so easy to attack?
That is true of Kiyomi Tsujimoto as well.
That is true of Mizuho Fukushima as well.
The following is a continuation of the previous chapter.
●Democratic Party lawmaker Kiyomi Tsujimoto advocates the abolition of the imperial system.
In her book Kiyomi Surude!! Shinjinrui ga Fune wo Dasu! (Daisan Shokan), Kiyomi Tsujimoto makes the following hate speech against His Majesty the Emperor, the symbol of the State of Japan.
Kiyomi Tsujimoto and Mizuho Fukushima embody what I regard as a typical anti-Japan mindset.
“Don’t you feel a kind of physiological disgust?
I mean those people, that system, that family.
I do not even want to breathe the air near them.”
“They are always trying to impose moral lessons and ethics.
But that sort of thing connects directly to the unpleasantness of the Emperor and that family, doesn’t it?
Will the imperial system disappear someday?”
“As for the Constitution, I am now described as a ‘defender of the Constitution,’ but to tell the truth, I do not think Articles 1 through 8 are necessary.

“Within the normalization of diplomatic relations with North Korea, which should take priority over resolving the abduction issue, postwar compensation will naturally arise.
Japan colonized the Korean Peninsula in the past and even took away its language, and yet it has done nothing to compensate North Korea.
That is only natural.
Without treating that as part of the same package, it is not fair just to keep saying, ‘Return the nine or ten people!’”
Shinsugok, a third-generation Korean resident in Japan who supports Tsujimoto and advocates Okinawan independence, has said of herself,
“Is it really the case that being Korean, and also being a woman, makes one so easy to attack?
That is true of Kiyomi Tsujimoto as well.
That is true of Mizuho Fukushima as well.”
In other words, she stated that Kiyomi Tsujimoto and the others are also Korean and are easily attacked because they are women.
▼Abolish-the-imperial-system demonstration causes turmoil in Kichijoji.
On the 3rd, the “June 3 No Imperial System Demonstration Executive Committee,” whose main core was the left-wing group “Liaison Committee for the Anti-Emperor System Movement,” held a “The No Imperial System Demonstration Returns” rally around JR Kichijoji Station in Musashino City, Tokyo, and the area became chaotic with over one hundred participants mobilized by the anti-imperial group, several hundred riot police, security and public safety personnel, and members of right-wing groups protesting the demonstration.
Is this group an organization of resident South Koreans in Japan?
Countries that have royal houses are respected as countries with history, and imperial diplomacy serves friendship between nations.
Princess Mako also visited Bhutan and deepened friendship with the king and others, thereby increasing the number of pro-Japan countries.
It is said that many Koreans dislike the fact that Japan has an Emperor out of jealousy.
Europe has many royal houses of long lineage, but even they have histories of only several hundred years, whereas there is no other royal house in the world that has continued for 2,600 years, giving it the authority of the world’s oldest royal house.
That is also an element recognized by Europeans who care about the status of royalty and nobility.
●Democratic Party lawmaker Hak Shinkun aims to secure local suffrage for Korean residents in Japan.
The 214th Reporters and Citizens Seminar hosted by the Korean Residents Union Central Headquarters was held on the 26th at the Korean Central Hall in Minato Ward, Tokyo, where Democratic Party Diet member Hak Shinkun gave a lecture on the ideal form of Japan-Korea friendship and goodwill.
After serving as head of the Japanese branch of the Chosun Ilbo, Hak ran in the 2004 House of Councillors election on the proportional representation list officially endorsed by the then Democratic Party.
