The Constitutional Democratic Party Is Merely the Ghost of the Kan Cabinet and Contributes Nothing to Japan’s National Interest

Written on May 19, 2019, this article points out that the core members of the Constitutional Democratic Party overlap with those of the Kan Cabinet, and sharply criticizes its leftward drift, its alignment with the Social Democratic and Communist parties, and its nature as an opposition force that contributes nothing to Japan’s national interest.

But such an opposition party contributes nothing to the national interest.
Japan has no need for the ghost of the Kan Cabinet, which goes on devouring Diet salaries and various allowances paid for by the people’s taxes.

The chapter I published on 2019-03-10 under the title, “When the Kan Cabinet was launched, Prime Minister Abe called it ‘an extremely insidious left-wing administration,’ and it can be said that the Constitutional Democratic Party is the Kan Cabinet further distilled, and made even more left-leaning by the ease of being in opposition,” has now entered the real-time best ten.
What follows is a continuation of the previous chapter.
The purification of the Kan Cabinet=the Constitutional Democratic Party.
Now then, that Kan Cabinet has now achieved a revival as the largest opposition party.
The principal members of the Constitutional Democratic Party are the very same as those of the Kan Cabinet, which may be called a symbol of failure.
Mr. Kan has settled into the position of supreme adviser of the party, Mr. Edano, who was Chief Cabinet Secretary in the Kan Cabinet, is the representative, Mr. Tetsuro Fukuyama, who was Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, is Secretary-General, and Ms. Kiyomi Tsujimoto, who was a special adviser to the Prime Minister, is Chair of the Diet Affairs Committee… such is the situation.
When the Kan Cabinet was launched, Prime Minister Abe called it “an extremely insidious left-wing administration,” and it can be said that the Constitutional Democratic Party is the Kan Cabinet further distilled, and made even more left-leaning by the ease of being in opposition.
The proof of that is that the Constitutional Democratic Party formed a unified parliamentary group with the Social Democratic Party in the House of Councillors.
In the summer Upper House election, it is also arranged that they will join hands and cooperate with the Communist Party.
Mr. Edano likes to call himself a conservative, but what kind of conservative joins forces with the Social Democratic Party and the Communist Party, both of which argue that the Self-Defense Forces are unconstitutional?
If the Constitutional Democratic Party becomes one with the Social Democratic Party, that would be nothing other than the revival of the former Socialist Party.
Even if it raises Socialist Party-like policies such as anti-nuclear power, and does nothing but shout opposition to the government and pursue scandals, it will not gather the expectations or interest of the people, and will likely never again be able to take power.
And yet, within the Constitutional Democratic Party, which is said to be under “Edano’s overwhelming dominance,” there are widespread observations such as, “Mr. Edano is the boss of his own little mountain.
That is probably what feels comfortable to him,” and “Edano and his close aides decide everything.
Perhaps Edano thinks things are fine just as they are now.”
Certainly, it must be an easy position to rule the party as the dictator of the perennial leading opposition party and simply go on criticizing the government and ruling parties.
But such an opposition party contributes nothing to the national interest.
Japan has no need for the ghost of the Kan Cabinet, which goes on devouring Diet salaries and various allowances paid for by the people’s taxes.
