May 8, 2026|Yokohama Roses|Yamashita Park and Harbor View Park|A Visual Poem of the Sea and Roses
2026.5.8
Yamashita Park.
Harbor View Park.
Yokohama Harbor.
Rose gardens.
Sea breeze.
The light of early summer.
On this day, while photographing the roses of Yokohama, I once again felt the beauty of the city itself.
The atmosphere of a harbor town.
The vastness of the sea.
The fragrance of roses.
And the exotic mood drifting through Yokohama Harbor.
All of these existed within the rose gardens of Yamashita Park and Harbor View Park.
The day before, the Norwegian luxury cruise ship “Viking” had departed from Yokohama Harbor.
On this day, the British-registered Diamond Princess was anchored there…a ship that had once dominated the news during the COVID era.
The sea of Yokohama.
The roses.
And the harbor itself.
I wanted to preserve all of them as a single visual poem.
The music used in this work is performed by HIMARI, and the New Japan Philharmonic.
Youthful transparency.
Light.
And an expansive sound.
Their music blended mysteriously well with the atmosphere of Yokohama in early summer.
The sea of Yokohama.
The roses.
The blue sky.
And the harbor breeze.
I wanted to preserve forever the memory of Yokohama on this day.
