How should we, Japan, confront a China that does not change?
China has put forward the concept of a “community of shared future for mankind,” but in response to this, Japan should put forward values that are the exact opposite.
The following is a continuation of the previous chapter.
How should we confront China?
The novel coronavirus has intensified criticism of China, but will the Xi Jinping system change?
Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd stated clearly in overseas media as follows.
“Xi Jinping will not change his course. That is because he knows that if he changes his course, the Chinese Communist Party will perish.”
Kevin Rudd is a politician known as pro-China, fluent in Chinese, and with a child who attends Fudan University in Shanghai.
Yet even he is saying that China will not change because of this incident.
How should we, Japan, confront a China that does not change?
China has put forward the concept of a “community of shared future for mankind,” but in response to this, Japan should put forward values that are the exact opposite.
Not a “community of shared future for mankind” that seems to govern the world according to the values of the Chinese Communist Party, but values that respect the uniqueness of each country and each people.
If Japan is to raise a flag worthy of Japan, perhaps it should be one that reflects, for example, the spirit of the Five-Article Charter Oath.
However, merely putting forward values is not enough.
What is necessary is the “power” that makes the realization of those values possible, and for a nation, “power” is nothing other than economic strength and military strength.
As stated earlier, the world has begun to take on the appearance of a deep confrontation between the liberal camp and the totalitarian camp.
The role Japan should play is clear.
In order for the liberal camp to survive, the constitutional revision proposed by the Abe administration must be realized as soon as possible.
