The “400,000 Chinese Comfort Women” Claim and the History War Against Japan — Examining Mr. Su’s Claims at Shanghai University and the Chinese Government’s Involvement Through Yoshiko Sakurai’s Commentary

2026-01-09
Based on Yoshiko Sakurai’s commentary published on the front page of the Sankei Shimbun, this article examines the fabrication of figures and testimonies concerning Chinese comfort women. It questions the blatant falsehoods presented under the title of scholar and the reality of the anti-Japanese history war supported from behind the scenes by the Chinese government.

The following is a continuation of Yoshiko Sakurai’s painstaking work published on the front page of yesterday’s Sankei Shimbun.
Emphasis in the text and the passages between * and * are mine.
However, this is only the beginning.
In the same book, Mr. Su claims to have recorded the testimonies of 102 Chinese comfort women and asserts that 87 of them were “directly” abducted by the Japanese military.
The book repeatedly claims that there were approximately 400,000 comfort women in total, that at least half of them were Chinese comfort women, and that the Japanese military abducted the majority of the Chinese comfort women with its own hands.
It holds the Japanese government responsible, arguing that the direct involvement of the Japanese military and its cruel treatment of women were characteristic features of the Japanese military in China.
Mr. Su is also the director of the Research Center for Chinese Comfort Women at Shanghai University.
Based on statistics from the center, there have even been reports claiming that 75 percent of the comfort women died after being ravaged by the Japanese military, and that the number amounted to 300,000.
No matter how much this may be a nation of liars unparalleled in history, in which the tradition of bottomless evil and plausible lies has been compounded by the ideology of one-party Communist dictatorship that calls white black and black white,
and even if, as a Chinese person recently wrote on the Internet, they are Chinese people with skins on their faces 3,000 layers thick,
does a person bearing the title of scholar not feel ashamed to tell such blatantly obvious lies?
It is meaningless to say such things to them, but the problem lies with the scholars at the University of British Columbia, the University of Hong Kong, and the University of Oxford.
Many of those involved are probably of Chinese descent, or scholars receiving financial support from China.

Mr. Takahashi has pointed out that the center’s comfort-women research receives funding from the Chinese government,
and it is reasonable to conclude that the Chinese government is supporting from behind the scenes the fabrications by Mr. Su and others concerning comfort women.
China has launched a full-scale history war against Japan.
Do the Japanese people, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in particular, recognize the bottomless dark emotions of the Chinese people cultivated through anti-Japanese education, and the extraordinary severity of the history war that arises from them?
To be continued.
