To Those Choosing Death: Life, the Sea, the Mountains, and the Forests

2010-8-19
Even now, as I write this, there are people choosing to die.

Nearly four people every hour.

Are you looking at the sea? Are you looking at the mountains? Are you looking at the forests?

This is what I think.

With an intensity so staggering that it can only be called a waste of energy and a waste of intelligence,
the mass media concentrated in Tokyo, especially the six television companies.

Behind that waste of energy and squandering of intelligence lie an exhausted country and its regions,
and perhaps that is why you are dying.

Those who flock there receive outrageous pay and say mountains of worthless things,
while you do not even have enough money to make tomorrow just a little more enjoyable.

And so you lose the joy of being alive in this world, so abundant and so wonderful,
and you lose even the peace of mind to wait for the day of death that comes to everyone.
To go on living and thinking until that day comes—that is life,
that alone is life.

Though being alive is truly wonderful, you feel that you have neither a little money
nor anyone left to offer you a little affection or a smile,
and so you are dying.

With everything drained from you by the vampires in Tokyo.

But I want to tell you this:

These vampires in Tokyo are themselves colossal fools whose lives and intelligence are being drained by still greater vampires, so you do not need to choose death.

But if what you wish is simply to die embraced by the sea or the mountains or the forests of the place where you were born,
all I can do is weep before you.
