Where Does True Intelligence Reside? — Arcade Fire and the World Japan’s Mass Media Have Lost Sight Of

This morning’s Nikkei newspaper — “Core” — Hideo Tsuchiya, staff columnist
This column has, unwittingly, prompted me to write an important essay.
Since I ate a little too much today, I thought I would post it tomorrow or later…
Today, while repeatedly playing and listening to ♪Sprawl II♪ from Arcade Fire’s latest album, “The Suburbs,” which I mentioned earlier, I thought I should find out accurately about them… particularly their lead singer…
Naturally, I thought they must have grown up in towns developed haphazardly in the suburbs, and I was astonished when I looked them up on Wikipedia.
In August 2010, they released their third album, “The Suburbs.”
The album reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart in Britain and also sold 156,000 copies in its first week of release in America, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
They conquered the charts in both Britain and America.
It also became the first album released by Merge to reach No. 1.
As I have already written (and this had, in fact, become reality), our country’s mass media and television have barely reported at all on a band advancing straight along the road to becoming the world’s champions of the early 21st century, so they are hopeless.
Naturally, the band never appears on the screen either.
I imagine it is because they are an indie band.
In art, as well as in politics, these are media capable only of issuing the so-called Imperial Headquarters announcements of the authorities.
Well, that is because these are media represented by the world’s most idiotic television, which broadcasts nothing but ○○○○ and those nonsense (a word in the Kawachinagano dialect… a word I love) pretty boys, day after day, from morning till night… the major newspapers are their parent companies…
There are hardly any people with keen antennae; day after day, in Roppongi and elsewhere, they spend all their time at group dating parties with the wealthy, celebrities, comedians, and the like, probably basking in their own golden age, unaware that they will soon be unable to survive.
And yet, the idiots who spout such things as “the Internet is mere grumbling” could never understand that the people of the finest quality in Japan must be thoroughly enjoying the live performance, with its wonderful picture and sound quality, provided by American Express on YouTube.
In other words, this clearly proves that the Internet is already far ahead of idiotic television and those editorial writers at the major newspapers.
It should go without saying which side’s public opinion possesses intelligence.
For what is real, or what we call intelligence, exists at the furthest possible remove from the way those pretty boys, such as ○○○○, are.
Of course, there can be no intelligence in the public opinion of people who spend their time from morning till night watching those pretty boys, such as ○○○○, and idiot celebrities.
