A Day When Light Returned — Kyoto Botanical Garden & Kamigamo Shrine
A photographic record of Kyoto on November 22, 2025.
From late-season roses at the Kyoto Botanical Garden to ceremonial scenes at Kamigamo Shrine, the highlight was witnessing the sun break through the clouds.
The accompanying video uses the second half of “Best of Rachmaninoff,” edited to match the duration of the images.
Eikando will be photographed on another day.
November 22, 2025.
Although the weather forecast promised clear skies, the moment I began photographing at the Kyoto Botanical Garden, the sky was suddenly covered by clouds.
Yet, roses were still blooming — especially the unforgettable scent of “French Perfume,” lingering softly in the cool late-autumn air.
After lunch, I headed to Kamigamo Shrine.
Shichi-Go-San celebrations, the Yoroi Festival, and the sacred stillness of the shrine blended into a quiet, dignified atmosphere.
And then — the moment arrived.
The sun broke through the clouds with overwhelming radiance, illuminating the world as if responding to the silence.
The soundtrack uses the second half of “Best of Rachmaninoff”, edited to match the rhythm and flow of the photographs.
A document of light — witnessed after waiting, walking, and listening.
I hope this brings calmness and reflection to your viewing experience.
