Miyajima — September 13, 2024352 Photographs from the Seto Inland Sea, with Rossini and Fauré
On September 13, 2024,
after confirming a clear and perfect forecast, I traveled to Hiroshima.
I stayed at the Hiroshima Prince Hotel,
where Prime Minister Kishida hosted the G7 Summit.
On the day of arrival, I took a ferry from the hotel pier to Miyajima Island.
The scenery of the Seto Inland Sea National Park during the crossing—
its calm waters and scattered islands—revealed a rare sense of completeness.
My long-awaited first visit to Miyajima far exceeded expectations.
This film consists of 352 photographs
and runs for 23 minutes and 52 seconds.
The music is arranged in the following order:
• Gioachino Rossini —
William Tell Overture
• Gioachino Rossini —
The Barber of Seville Overture
• Gabriel Fauré —
Cantique de Jean Racine
Rossini’s overtures bring brilliance and vitality to the images,
while Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine concludes the film
with quiet reverence and spiritual depth.
This is not a travel guide.
It is a visual and musical record
of a single place and a single day that reached a rare state of harmony.
