Seto Inland Sea National Park — September 14, 2024A G7 Cruise, Island Light, and Murata NatsuhoHaydn “Lobkowitz” & Ysaÿe
On September 14, 2024,
I boarded a luxury cruise ship from the Hiroshima Prince Hotel—
the very vessel used by world leaders during the G7 Summit—
and traveled eastward through the Seto Inland Sea National Park.
The Seto Inland Sea, Japan’s first national park,
reveals its beauty not through grandeur,
but through calm, balance, and a profound sense of completion.
The journey ended in Mihara.
From there, I took the Shinkansen to Fukuyama,
where I encountered a swallowtail butterfly on the platform
and photographed Fukuyama Castle as seen from the station.
Most of the photographs in this film capture
the sea, islands, and light of the Seto Inland Sea
between Hiroshima and Mihara.
The music is drawn from the recital
SINCRONìA – Recital di violino,
performed in Rome on November 22, 2025 by
Murata Natsuho.
This recording documents the moment
when the Ferdinando Gagliano violin, loaned to her in 2025,
became fully integrated into her artistic voice.
It is a performance in which the true stature
of a once-in-a-generation violinist clearly emerges.
The program consists of:
• Joseph Haydn —
String Quartet No. 81 in G major, Op.77 No.1
(“Lobkowitz Quartet”)
• Eugène Ysaÿe —
Sonata for Solo Violin No.4 in E minor, Op.27 No.4
The union of classical perfection and spiritual intensity.
A performance of this level is exceedingly rare—
one may rightly call it a performance of the century.
This is not a travel video.
It is a record of nature, nation, and music
quietly converging in a single span of time.
