The following continues from the previous chapter.
Even without waiting for the colonel’s observation, recently China has been unilaterally sending large armed vessels of the China Coast Guard into Japan’s territorial waters and contiguous zones around the Senkaku Islands at a frequency of three to four times per month.
This is a complete denial of Japan’s sovereignty.
In Japan, these Chinese vessels are often simply referred to as “government ships.”
However, these Chinese vessels are large armed ships ranging from one thousand to several thousand tons.
The China Coast Guard to which these vessels belong places its command headquarters within the State Oceanic Administration, an agency for maritime policy enforcement.
At the same time, it is directed in its operations by the Ministry of Public Security, the central government’s police authority.
Moreover, it maintains close coordination with the People’s Liberation Army and operates under its orders.
This China Coast Guard now always forms fleets of four vessels at a time when intruding into Japan’s territorial waters.
Until the final period of the Obama administration, these fleets consisted of only two vessels, but afterward they became four, and the scale has remained the same ever since.
In other words, the Chinese fleets intruding into Japan’s territorial waters have doubled.
To be continued.
