Awakening from Postwar Consciousness — Toward Japan as a Truly Responsible Nation

This essay reflects on postwar education and historical consciousness in Japan, arguing for a renewed sense of national responsibility and awareness in response to shifting global realities.

Through this, Japan must awaken as a truly responsible nation — something that is now being demanded from around the world.

The following is a continuation of the previous chapter.
Former Tokyo Governor Yoichi Masuzoe, who was driven to resign, appeared to be a typical example of the distorted elites produced by postwar education.
Such distorted elites treat Japan’s national crises as if they were someone else’s problem.
Even when China or South Korea interfere in Japan’s domestic affairs, they think only of avoiding conflict and feel no indignation.
What else can this be called if not a tragic and pitiful state?
Even the military strength that a superpower would naturally possess is denied to Japan by its constitution.
This is because the former Imperial Japanese military was considered too strong.
China, Japan’s neighbor, immediately raises an outcry of “revival of militarism” whenever Japan’s military capability increases, yet China’s own defense budget has tripled over the past decade.
China itself is the militaristic state.
Now is the time for all Japanese people to recognize that they were indoctrinated by GHQ in the postwar period.
Japan must free itself as soon as possible from a situation in which this indoctrination is being exploited by China, South Korea, and anti-Japan forces within Japan.
Through this, Japan must awaken as a truly responsible nation — something that is now being demanded from around the world.
I hope that this book will serve as the catalyst for that awakening.
