Sydney — Kyodo.
It has been revealed that the Australian government revoked the permanent residency and citizenship of Huang Xiangmo, a Chinese property developer and wealthy businessman living in Sydney, and has also refused to allow him to re-enter the country while he remains abroad.
Local media reported the development by the 7th.

Huang has been pointed out as having links with the Chinese Communist Party and had made large political donations to Australia’s two major political parties.
Therefore the government may have aimed to eliminate political influence operations conducted through such donations.

In recent years in Australia, China has been accused of attempting to exert influence through politicians.
Last June the federal parliament passed legislation intended to block foreign political interference and espionage activities, with China clearly in mind.
