Kawaguchiko 2026 | Mount Fuji Veiled in Clouds | Fujiko Hemming plays Liszt

This is a visual work composed of photographs of Mount Fuji veiled in clouds, taken at Kawaguchiko on March 9 and 10, 2026.
March 9 was the day I traveled from Ikebukuro to Kawaguchiko.
Amid a sudden drop in temperature, the upper half of Mount Fuji remained covered in clouds throughout the day.
Kawaguchiko was also filled with intense cedar pollen, and the walk along the lakeside from the sightseeing boat pier to the hotel, which I made for the first time, made the day especially memorable.
As I was sorting the photographs from that day, Liszt’s Un Sospiro, performed by Fujiko Hemming, began to play from the YouTube screen on my television.
However, the length of the music did not match the length of the visual sequence, so I decided to add Liebesträume as well.
Then, when I reviewed the photographs taken on March 10 of Mount Fuji hidden in clouds as seen from Kawaguchiko, I found that they too were remarkably good, and so I decided to unite the two days into a single work.
The length of the images and the duration of the two pieces matched beautifully, and I believe this has become a very fine work.
The music used here is Liszt’s Un Sospiro and Liebesträume, performed by Fujiko Hemming.
