China’s Essence Is Bottomless Evil and Plausible Lies.Yoshiko Sakurai and Akio Yaita Warn of the Taiwan–Okinawa Crisis and Japan’s Need to Awaken.
Originally published on April 30, 2019, this chapter builds on a piece written on September 1, 2018 and, through an essay by Yoshiko Sakurai, examines the essential nature of the Chinese Communist regime, the prospect of a Taiwan contingency, influence operations in Okinawa, and the fundamental question of Japan’s national security.
It argues that China has long used cyberattacks, fake news, covert influence, and penetration of international institutions and domestic media to destabilize neighboring countries and to wage political and psychological warfare against Japan, and insists that Japan can no longer avoid facing this reality.
It further explores the danger of a U.S.–China grand bargain, the possibility that Okinawa could be targeted after Taiwan, and the need for Japan to debate deterrence, including nuclear deterrence, concluding that the time has long since come for the world to understand the true nature of China and Chinese Communist rule.

One must understand that there is scarcely anything in this world more incorrigible than China’s rulers.
There is no culture, no civilization, no art.
There is only worship of power and lies.
This is the chapter I published on 2018-09-01 under the title, It is no exaggeration whatever to state outright that they are people who have fallen into China’s honey traps and money traps.
Reading it again, I thought to myself that it was remarkable.
The day before yesterday, a well-read friend of mine had also purchased the newly released issue of Shukan Shincho.
“You and Masayuki Takayama resonate with one another.”
“I think so too.
I hold Masayuki Takayama in the highest esteem, and I am convinced that he too feels gratitude toward me.”
However, in this chapter, I wish to introduce, as essential reading not only for the Japanese people but for people all over the world, the essay by another person who appears before him in that issue, a person for whom I also have the very highest regard, Yoshiko Sakurai.
As for the book Sakurai is discussing, I knew without even asking that the friend mentioned at the beginning had already finished reading it.
That is because, some time ago, when I had other things on my mind, he had been talking about public executions in China and the like.
I had only half been listening, but I clearly remembered those words about public executions.
The emphases in the main text other than the headings, and the passages between the asterisks, are mine.
This is the continuation of “Two People Who Broke Free of the Illusion That ‘China Is Number One.’”
Taiwan and Okinawa will be targeted.
It begins with cyberterrorism, then the spreading of fake news, and the throwing of the enemy side into confusion by various operations.
In Crimea, pro-Russian forces are made to rise up and seize power.
Without missing a beat, Russian troops are sent in.
Xi, taking President Putin’s scenario as a reference, is watching Taiwan.
We should take head-on Mr. Yaita’s clear statement that Xi will take some sort of action between 2020 and 2025, and that preparations for it have already begun through the use of Taiwanese gangsters.
After Taiwan, Okinawa will be targeted.
China’s design regarding Okinawa is independence from Japan.
Mr. Yaita explains that the purpose is to incorporate Okinawa into China’s tributary diplomacy and use it to check Japan.
All Japanese citizens must recognize the plain fact that Onaga became an agent for this purpose.
Those who advocate Okinawan independence are only a small number of Japanese.
I too have reported in this column that, in cooperation between them and the Chinese side, symposiums and press conferences concerning “Ryukyu independence” have been held in China and at the United Nations.
If one underestimates them merely because the advocates of Okinawan independence are an extreme minority, the consequences will be disastrous.
The two men compare Japan, in China’s eyes, to Peking duck.
The skin is wrapped in pancakes with a bit of sauce, the meat is stir-fried, and the bones are turned into soup and eaten down to the last.
It can be enjoyed three times.
The meaning is this.
First, the Chinese Communist Party took power by making Japan and the Nationalists fight.
Second, through reform and opening, it made Japan support China’s economic growth with Japanese funds and technology.
Finally, it tightly bound its people together through thorough patriotic anti-Japan education.
Surely it is time we realized that we have been sucked down to the bone, and that the situation remains dangerous even now.
The dialogue between the two men extends to the ultimate U.S.–China deal.
A trade between Taiwan and North Korea between the United States and China.
That is, in return for making North Korea abandon its nuclear weapons and ICBMs, the United States would not intervene in a Chinese invasion of Taiwan.
We must not dismiss this as impossible.
With even the worst possibilities in mind, Japan can survive only by strengthening itself.
I believe there is ample legitimacy in the argument that Japan too should debate even the question of nuclear armament, assuming a situation in which North Korea becomes a de facto nuclear state.
*If one considers that the essence of China is bottomless evil and plausible lies, and that to this is added the evil of one-party Communist dictatorship, then the time has long since come for not only the Japanese people but the entire world to realize that, other than nuclear armament, Japan has no deterrent against the ambitions of this empire of evil.
The time has long since come for the world to understand that, unless Japan arms itself with nuclear weapons, peace will never come permanently to Southeast Asia.
The United States is a country whose policies can change depending on the president.
France was not foolish enough to entrust its own security to such a country, and de Gaulle therefore armed France with nuclear weapons and obtained a deterrent against the threat of the dictatorial Soviet state.
That deterrent was nuclear deterrence, the absolute means of preventing war that humanity has acquired.
Russia cannot threaten France as China constantly threatens Japan, nor can it behave toward France in such a way.
And the reverse truth is this.
China, which is precisely an empire of evil, has exploited the fact that Japan is not merely unarmed with nuclear weapons but is a country without even a proper military, because it has long been dominated by forces that cling to the Constitution written by GHQ in order to weaken Japan thoroughly.
Indeed, it may be no exaggeration to say that it is the Chinese Communist Party itself that has, from behind the scenes, nurtured the leftist forces in Japan, with The Asahi Shimbun as their chief standard-bearer.
With threats and sweet words.
By pulling and pushing.
China attacks Japan ceaselessly.
It is an obvious fact that the principal aim of ICAN’s abolition of nuclear weapons is to make Japan sign a document renouncing possession of nuclear weapons.
And when one sees that the base organization of ICAN is Peace Boat, which is plainly a body connected with far-left extremist movements in Europe and America and with North Korea, the time has long since come to recognize that the mastermind behind ICAN is China.
Why is China’s propaganda war pursued so thoroughly.
Because it is no exaggeration to say that a one-party Communist dictatorship exists by means of propaganda.
That is, by conspiratorial propaganda operations.
For them, propaganda is their philosophy and their very reason for being.
The aim of propaganda is to succeed at any cost.
China, whose persistence itself forms part of its national character, uses the United Nations as a stage.
And in Japan, it places organizations such as The Asahi Shimbun and NHK under its influence through both soft and hard means.
It is no exaggeration whatever to state outright that most of the people who dominate the news divisions of The Asahi Shimbun and NHK are people who have fallen into China’s honey traps and money traps.
China is that kind of country.
That alone is its essence, and there is nothing else.
Its nature as a land of bottomless evil and plausible lies.
That is the essence of its system throughout recorded history.
The time has long since come for not only Japan but the whole world to realize this.
One must understand that there is scarcely anything in this world more incorrigible than China’s rulers.
There is no culture, no civilization, no art.
There is only worship of power and lies.*
