Kyoto Cherry Blossoms | March 27 & 29, 2023 | Kyoto Botanical Garden, Uji, Daigo-ji | Vivaldi “Spring” | A Visual Poem Offered the Day After I Was Moved by Yuna Shinohara
March 27 and 29, 2023.
I photographed the cherry blossoms at the Kyoto Botanical Garden, Uji, and Daigo-ji.
I offer the blossoms of those days to readers around the world together with “Spring” from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
Yesterday, I attended the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra’s Toyonaka Masterpiece Series Vol. 37, “Flowers,” held at the Main Hall of the Toyonaka Performing Arts Center.
The conductor was Erika Kiko.
The violinist was Yuna Shinohara.
Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
Delius’s Two Pieces for Small Orchestra.
And Schumann’s Symphony No. 1 in B-flat major, Op. 38, “Spring.”
It would not be the slightest exaggeration to call the entire concert a historic series of performances.
Above all, I was deeply moved by Yuna Shinohara.
About this, I shall write at a later date in The Turntable of Civilization.
The light of spring in Kyoto, the presence of cherry blossoms, and the memory of music—
I offer all of them to the world as a single visual poem.
Incidentally, judging from the state of the cherry blossoms, at least this year, the reality of cooling is far more persuasive than the stock phrases of those who preach “global warming.”
