Kyoto Cherry Blossoms | April 4, 2022 | Daigo-ji | A Monumental Visual Poem of Blue Sky and Full Bloom | Mozart

April 4, 2022.
On this day, I photographed Daigo-ji beneath a clear blue sky in the ARW files of my α99.
What I was most determined to capture was the true worth of Daigo-ji’s cherry blossoms, which fully reveal themselves only under such skies.
The spring-filled heavens.
The blossoms in full bloom.
And the temple buildings bearing the weight of long years.
When these are joined together, Daigo-ji ceases to be merely a celebrated site and rises instead as a monument to spring itself.
That is the moment I sought to inscribe in this work.
For the music, I chose Mozart.
Its lucid and noble resonance speaks deeply to the blossoms beneath the blue sky and to the memory of beauty long preserved by Kyoto as an ancient capital.
The cherry blossoms of Daigo-ji are not merely splendid.
In each fleeting moment dwell the light of spring, the beauty of Japan, and the passage of time itself.
That is why I wish to offer Daigo-ji on this radiant day to the world as a visual poem.
