The Age That Turned Suh Seung into a Hero. The Asahi Shimbun, Praise for North Korea, and the Ideological Structure of Contempt for South Korea.

Written on May 8, 2019, this essay indicts the structure of Japan’s postwar anti-Japan discourse by examining Asahi Shimbun coverage surrounding Suh Seung, along with the scholars, cultural figures, in-house study system, and Yonsei University network around him.
Against the background of an era in which North Korea was praised as a “paradise on earth” while South Korea under military rule was despised, it sharply criticizes the ideological roots of that discourse through references to Tetsuya Hakoda, Wakamiya Yoshibumi, Takashi Uemura, Yayori Matsui, Alexis Dudden, and others.

It was the era of military governments, when the national armed forces had seized power.
It was an era in which the Asahi Shimbun and the so-called scholars who were aligned with it praised North Korea and looked down on South Korea.
Suh Seung was treated as a hero among them.

This is the chapter I published on 2018-12-18 under the title, “As for Suh Seung, anyone who has subscribed to and read newspapers carefully should remember him only as a man arrested in South Korea on suspicion of espionage.”
What follows is an article I published in June 2017.
In a recent special feature article in the Sankei Shimbun, something was written about Suh Seung.
It said that his foremost disciple is now writing articles for the Asahi Shimbun.
As readers know, I have pointed out several times that a man named Tetsuya Hakoda, in a position like that of an editorial writer in charge of South Korea at the Asahi Shimbun, has been writing strange articles…
In that process, I also pointed out that Hakoda graduated from Ritsumeikan University and then joined the company.
And that the Asahi Shimbun’s customary in-house study-abroad course…
Is also one of the roots of the Asahi Shimbun’s distorted thought, masochistic thought, and anti-Japan thought.
Wakamiya Yoshibumi, Kiyota Harufumi, Takashi Uemura, Tetsuya Hakoda, and others studied at Yonsei University under that in-house program.
Those North Korean spies, and Yayori Matsui, who was a major female employee at the Asahi Shimbun…
And Eriko Ikeda, who had been a producer at NHK…
And Alexis Dudden… Alexis Dudden, an American woman who to anyone’s eyes is nothing less than an agent of South Korea and who year-round preaches anti-Japan propaganda,
And Carol Gluck is probably the same kind of existence.
It is no exaggeration whatsoever to say that Alexis Dudden is the very extreme of stupidity and evil…
Even in her expression, one can see the foolishness and narrow-mindedness of her distorted ideology.
And then there was that absurd “Women’s International War Crimes Tribunal” that those women organized. (December 7 to 12, 2000.)
In the United States…
It is truly astonishing that this queen of anti-Japan propaganda of South Korean origin…
Is a university professor…
But she also tells us that the time has long since come when people around the world should know that she is proof of the incorrigibility and foolishness of the species called university professors…
And she too studied at Yonsei University.
That is why I immediately realized…
That this Yonsei University was a base of anti-Japan propaganda…
And one of the bases for the covert activities of the KCIA.
Now, as for Suh Seung…
Anyone who has subscribed to and carefully read newspapers…
Should remember him only as a man arrested in South Korea on suspicion of espionage.
At that time, the Asahi Shimbun…
And such people as Kenzaburō Ōe, one of the representative standard-bearers among those aligned with it…
The so-called scholars and cultural figures, were fervent worshippers of North Korea…
And called North Korea a “paradise on earth.”
South Korea, where political instability continued…
Was then in an era of military governments, with the armed forces seizing power each time.
It was an era in which the Asahi Shimbun and the so-called scholars aligned with it…
Praised North Korea and despised South Korea.
Suh Seung was treated as a hero among them.
I was astonished enough to learn that he had been a professor at Ritsumeikan University…
But I was still more astonished and appalled that this man’s foremost disciple was Tetsuya Hakoda.
Because Suh Seung was the very embodiment of the fraudulent ideology created by the GHQ occupation policy = brainwashing operations.
My firsthand knowledge…
And the fact that he was from Yamagata Prefecture, next to my home prefecture, also makes me glad…
The late Shōichi Watanabe, a genuine scholar standing alongside the late Tadao Umesao…
Perfectly, as a scholar…
Demonstrated and refuted, as a scholar, their stupidity, their errors, and the roots of their distorted ideology…
The lie = anti-Japan propaganda.
The Wikipedia article I will cite in the next chapter proves…
That Suh Seung was a mass of those lies.
