Kyoto Cherry Blossoms 2021|Heian Shrine, Okazaki, Kiyamachi, and Kiyomizu-dera|Complete Preservation Edition with Unwanted Elements Removed
April 1, 2021.
Heian Shrine.
Okazaki.
From Sanjo Kiyamachi to Shichijo Kiyamachi.
Kiyomizu-dera.
For some reason, the cherry blossoms in Kyoto that year looked somewhat pink.
At Heian Shrine, the gorgeous weeping cherry blossoms were in full bloom.
At the first pond, a grey heron appeared right before my eyes.
In Okazaki and at Kiyomizu, I also photographed the backs of two young Japanese women in kimono, with their permission.
On this day, at Kiyomizu-dera, a bush warbler appeared in the woods in front of the Koyasu Pagoda.
This was because my whistled imitation of the bush warbler’s song is the best in Japan.
It appeared so close before my eyes that I was startled, and I still regret that I could not bring it into focus at that instant.
Neither before nor after has a bush warbler ever appeared so close before my eyes at Kiyomizu-dera.
This work is the complete preservation edition, with unnecessary people and cars that appeared in the frame removed.
Cherry blossoms.
Waterside scenes.
The ancient capital.
Kimono.
A grey heron.
And a bush warbler.
I preserved the spring of Kyoto in 2021 as a single photo collection.
The music used in this work comes from recordings available on YouTube.
Brahms: Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Op.115, First Movement.
At the end, Debussy: The Girl with the Flaxen Hair.
Piano: Vladimir Ashkenazy.
The performance and visual work run for 11 minutes and 32 seconds.
This is a visual work preserving Kyoto’s cherry blossoms tinted pink as a complete preservation edition for future generations.
