The Opposition and the Media Stole the Time Needed for Japan’s Virus Defense: The Crime of the “Cherry Blossom Viewing Party” Farce
On March 4, 2020, I was once again appalled by an article in the Yomiuri Shimbun. Although the new virus issue had already become Japan’s most urgent national concern, opposition parties such as the Constitutional Democratic Party and the Japanese Communist Party made no constructive proposals for establishing a thorough epidemic-prevention system. Instead, they continued attacking the Abe administration over the so-called “Cherry Blossom Viewing Party” issue. It was the opposition parties and the media that deprived the Prime Minister and the government of the time they should have devoted to infectious-disease countermeasures.
March 4, 2020
Opposition parties such as the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan and the Japanese Communist Party made absolutely no proposals whatsoever on this matter for devising measures by which the nation could establish a complete epidemic-prevention system…
They completely ignored this issue…
I was appalled again by an article on page four of today’s Yomiuri Shimbun.
It was written in such a way as to make it seem as if the present situation were a problem of the Abe administration, while saying absolutely nothing about the opposition parties, who bear the greatest responsibility for the present state of affairs.
Perhaps that is because the mass media themselves were accomplices.
It was a headline and article on page four related to the news that the secretary of a Diet member elected in Hiroshima had been arrested on suspicion of buying campaign workers.
First, with regard to this incident, the reality is probably that, regardless of whether they belong to the ruling or opposition parties, politicians, especially those who are not strong in elections, do similar things to secure campaign staff, particularly capable campaign announcers.
Now it has become clear that this very reality was the most important problem.
I mean the issue of the new virus that emerged in Wuhan, China, at the end of last year.
Opposition parties such as the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan and the Japanese Communist Party made absolutely no proposals whatsoever on this matter for devising measures by which the nation could establish a complete epidemic-prevention system…
They completely ignored this issue…
Was it because touching upon this issue would benefit the Abe administration and disgrace China?
They simply continued attacking the administration over a fabricated issue called the Cherry Blossom Viewing Party.
As a result, the administration, too, was deprived of a great deal of the time it should have used to take thorough measures.
After all, the Prime Minister, who is the supreme person in charge, was exposed day after day, for long hours, to attacks in the Diet through foolish questions, and was kept tied down there for long periods.
The Yomiuri article does not write at all about the fact that this is what led to the present situation.
It is an article that writes as if the responsibility lay with the Prime Minister, even though the greatest responsibility lies with the opposition parties.
It is also proof that the mass media are infected with pseudo-moralism and pseudo-political correctness.
From last year until only yesterday, the political hacks of the opposition parties, including the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, who had continued attacking the administration over the Cherry Blossom Viewing Party,
kept referring to Hotel New Otani as though it were an ultra-luxury hotel.
It is no exaggeration at all to say that this, too, is an outright lie.
As Tokyo has become one of the world’s great cities, the finest and high-class hotels from all over the world now stand in rows throughout Tokyo.
Japanese hotels, even old-established ones,
can no longer maintain their prices all the more for that reason.
The political hacks of the opposition parties, who must themselves frequently use places such as Hotel New Otani, should know this very well.
If they said such things while knowing this, then they have continued proving that they are the ugliest kind of human beings.
If they did not know it, then they are either truly stupid, or they are people who not only know nothing about politics but are also ignorant of the actual state of society.
It would only prove that they are an outrageous group of people whose only knowledge comes from information supplied by so-called citizens’ groups.
Hotel New Otani has continued to be exposed to the fierce wave of price destruction amid intensifying competition and an economy that still has not escaped deflation.
In other words, the political hacks of the opposition parties should know very well that discounting and dumping of rates are ordinary matters.
Yet they pretended not to know and continued their relentless pursuit of the administration.
The print media led by the Asahi Shimbun, and the television stations that make programs with wide shows filled with broadcast geisha, also pretended not to know and continued attacking the administration.
Today’s Yomiuri article also proved the truth of what I have repeatedly stated:
that they are the ones most responsible for creating the present situation.
The media have no idea that for more than thirty years they have continued endangering Japan, weakening Japanese politics, and lowering Japan’s national power.
It is no exaggeration at all to say that there are no greater sinners than they are.
