What kind of company is Toshiba?
The media, led by the Asahi Shimbun, reported on Toshiba as though it were the worst company imaginable.
It is high time they realized that they themselves are the worst companies.
The aforementioned Bill Gates has visited Toshiba many times.
That is because he knew how outstanding the small nuclear reactors developed by Toshiba were.
Masayuki Takayama, a journalist without equal in the postwar world, has revealed that the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station was the first to adopt GE’s nuclear power plant of that time, the appalling professional background of the GE official responsible, the numerous flaws in the design, and the fact that Japan’s finest engineering teams—those at Toshiba, Hitachi, and other companies of which Japan is rightly proud—had completely rectified every problem that arose during operation and kept the plant running.
Upon discovering a serious flaw in the placement of the emergency power equipment, which is absolutely critical to a nuclear power plant, GE notified countries around the world that had adopted its reactors.
Only Japan’s Koizumi administration ignored this notification and failed to make the necessary improvements.
He taught us that this was what turned Fukushima into “FUKUSHIMA.”
I had surmised that the aforementioned Bill Gates must have been visiting Toshiba with pangs of conscience.
Of course, beyond those pangs of conscience, it was precisely the excellence of the small nuclear reactors developed by Toshiba that brought him back time and again.
Many Japanese people, and most people elsewhere in the world, know absolutely nothing of this fact.
The world probably does not know that Toshiba is a company with hundreds of thousands of employees on a consolidated basis, supporting millions of jobs when affiliated companies are included, and that the same is true of the eight other electrical equipment manufacturers, including Hitachi, of which Japan is rightly proud.
I was the first person to come forward declaring that things begin with just one individual.
Bill Gates and Masayoshi Son, too, each acting as just one individual, have indeed driven tens of millions of Japanese people into hardship.
