The other night, the instant I heard Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 1 playing on YouTube, my genius resonated with Prokofiev’s genius.
I decided to turn that day’s photographs into a work once again, set to this music.

Three hundred photographs taken as I walked through Himeji Castle and the surroundings of Akashi Castle.
The grandeur of the castles and the energy of a summer day spent walking.
I want to share them through this music.
The pianist is Sviatoslav Richter.
Four seconds for each photograph, twenty minutes in all.
A day captured in photographs begins to move with the piano.
Prokofiev’s concerto is followed by Debussy’s Suite bergamasque, also performed by Richter.
