2011年12月18日、8か月の入院生活を完治退院した翌々日、平安神宮を訪れた。
担当医に「生存確率25％」と宣告されながらも奇跡の回復を遂げ、アオサギに迎えられた瞬間を記録。
闘病中は北野病院で歩行訓練を続け、iPodでジョージ・ハリスン最晩年のアルバムを聴いていた。
奇跡の退院と感動の再会を象徴する写真集。
On December 18, 2011, two days after being discharged from eight months of hospitalization, I visited Heian Shrine. Despite being told by my doctor that my chance of survival was only 25%, I achieved a miraculous recovery and was greeted by a grey heron. During my hospital days, I walked daily laps in Kitano Hospital for rehabilitation while listening to George Harrison’s final album on my iPod. This photo collection captures the miracle of survival and the moving encounter that followed.

これは12/16に完治退院した翌々日に訪れた平安神宮等の写真である。
平安神宮は、当時、頻繁に訪れていた場所。
アオサギが私を迎えてくれた。
奇跡のような場面だった。
完治が近づいていた頃、私は、下半身の鍛錬の為に、連日、北野病院の広い楕円形の廊下を点滴スタンドと一緒に、何周も歩いた。
この時、ipodでいつも聴いていたのが、本曲を含む、ジョージ・ハリスン最晩年のアルバムだった。
ご存じの通り、彼は、脳腫瘍にり患し、短い人生を閉じた。
私は、この曲…♬Marewa Blues♬…ほど、痛切で美しい曲を他に知らない。
この写真集を発見した時、バックに流す曲は、この曲しかないと思った。
After being told by my doctor that I had only a 25% chance of survival, I endured eight months of hospitalization. On December 16, I was finally discharged after a complete recovery. Two days later, I visited Heian Shrine, a place I often frequented at the time. There, a grey heron appeared to welcome me. It was a miraculous moment. As my recovery progressed, I trained my lower body by walking multiple laps around the wide oval-shaped corridor of Kitano Hospital, pushing along an IV stand. During these walks, I always listened on my iPod to George Harrison’s final album, which included this song. As you know, he suffered from a brain tumor and his life ended all too soon. I know of no song more poignant and beautiful than this one. When I rediscovered these photographs, I felt there could be no other music to play in the background but this piece.
