This article exposes the shameless 2015 lecture given in South Korea by Asahi Shimbun journalist Shuichi Yutaka and harshly criticizes the newspaper’s continued refusal to acknowledge its fabrication of the comfort women issue. It reveals how Asahi shifted the narrative from forced recruitment to a vague “women’s human rights issue,” ignored Korean war crimes, and continues its double standards while obstructing genuine Japan–Korea relations.

The Shameless Lecture of Asahi Shimbun’s Shuichi Yutaka
A reporter named Shuichi Yutaka of the Asahi Shimbun brazenly traveled all the way to South Korea and delivered a lecture at a seminar titled “The Comfort Women Issue and Postwar Japan,” hosted by the Asia Research Institute of Seoul National University.
There, it was once again laid bare that the Asahi Shimbun has absolutely no remorse regarding its “comfort women fabrication.”
According to Yutaka, “While an international trend has emerged to view the comfort women issue as wartime sexual violence and recognize it as a women’s human rights issue, within Japan, historical revisionist movements have grown stronger.”
First of all, was it not the Asahi Shimbun itself, after its fabrication was exposed, that desperately began substituting the comfort women issue with a “women’s human rights issue”?
Even the Asahi Shimbun’s own internal third-party review committee that examined its comfort women reporting denounced this as a “logical substitution.”
The starting point of the comfort women issue was whether there had been coercion in the form of “forced abduction.”
The Asahi Shimbun simply shifted this from “narrow coercion” to “broad coercion,” and then further to a “women’s human rights issue.”
To now claim that “a trend has emerged to recognize it as a women’s human rights issue” is utterly astonishing.
Yutaka also stated that “within Japan, historical revisionist movements have intensified,” but it is the Asahi Shimbun itself that is the true origin of historical revisionism.
It is nothing but exasperating.
Furthermore, he said, “On the internet, false rumors such as the claim that the comfort women issue was fabricated by the Asahi Shimbun have spread.”
Calling it “false rumors” is breathtaking.
This single statement alone proves that the Asahi Shimbun has no remorse whatsoever regarding its comfort women reporting.
By broadcasting Seiji Yoshida’s lies as if they were fact, writing countless impression-based articles based on them, and finalizing the fabrication with Takashi Uemura’s article claiming that women were “forcibly taken to the battlefield as members of the Women’s Volunteer Corps,” the Asahi Shimbun completed its comfort women fabrication.
Having finally become unable to evade responsibility, it published a miserable “verification article” in August last year, and then stubbornly insisted on framing it as a “women’s human rights issue,” while at the September press conference, Kimura and Sugiura continued to offer laughable excuses, a truly pitiful sight.
If the Asahi Shimbun truly claims that this is a “women’s human rights issue,” then why does it not investigate and report on Korean comfort women during the Korean War?
Why does it not conduct investigative reporting on wartime sexual violence committed by the South Korean military during the Vietnam War?
What does Yutaka think about this matter?
Well, it is precisely this kind of double standard that the Asahi Shimbun displays without a shred of shame.
Yutaka must become fully aware of this.
It is the Asahi Shimbun itself that is the principal cause obstructing genuine Japan–Korea relations.
The Asahi Shimbun and its reporters appear not to know the word “shame.”
They also lack the “self-cleansing function” they so often demand of others.
We are thoroughly sick of these delusions.
If they cannot truly repent and start anew, then they should collapse at once.
