The author argues that in the immediate aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Japanese leadership should have taken every possible emergency measure, including full mobilization of the Self-Defense Forces, and that the Tokyo Stock Exchange should have suspended trading and declared to the world Japan’s determination to recover.
Through reflections on soaring construction stocks, violent market swings, criticism of twentieth-century capitalism, and his own civilizational concept of “The Turntable of Civilization,” this text asks what voice Japan should truly have sent out to the world in that historic moment.

100歩譲ったって、わずか40分後には、あの、これまで誰も見た事がない映像がＮＨＫで流れたんだから。

その瞬間に、自衛隊全軍出動を含む、ありとあらゆる対策を講じるのが、本当のエリート、頭というものだろう。

純粋な心だったら、常に心眼が開いている心なら、…。

東証には、この20年超の痴呆テレビと同程度の人間達しかいない…。

やっぱり、20世紀資本主義の餓鬼達が…「こんな時だから…」、などと考えることは、私の予想通り、有り得なかった。
東証は、今、リーマン・ショックに匹敵する様な売り込まれ方をしている。
これを本当の馬鹿という。
この20年超、世界に向かって何も発信できなかった体制の象徴。
例えば、何故、以下の様な事を、世界に向かって宣言できない。…。
東証のエリート達よ。…。
今回の人類史上最大級の地球異変に依る大災害にかんがみて、当分の間、休業します。…。
日本は、何処の国よりも早く、この未曾有の大惨事を克服、一気に我が国の経済力を総動員して、日本の国力を回復しますから、どうぞ、見守り下さい。

株式市場については誰もが予想していた通り、建設関連銘柄は暴騰＝鹿島を筆頭に、軒並みストップ高。

こうなったら、災いを転じて福と成すで、頃合いを見計らって一気に買いに入る。…。
日本は負けない、日本人のdecencyは、今回の様な人類史上最悪のcatastropheにも打ち勝つ。
この人類史上最高のdecency に準拠した日本企業の優秀さは世界最高レベルであることを世界に再認識させましょうぞ。

ほんまに、20世紀資本主義の餓鬼達は、昼休みの間にも、日経先物を目まぐるしく乱高下させている。

今回の未曾有のcatastropheに対しての世界の人々の心と…。
ロシアや中国ですらだ…。
20世紀資本主義の振る舞いは…。
民主主義と資本主義は相反するものであることを証明していると私は思う。

良い様に解釈したとしても、…。
今回の事が経済に与えるダメージを計っているのだと…。

People all over the world sympathized, but….
Just as I had expected, the brats of twentieth-century capitalism were incapable of thinking, “At a time like this….”
The Tokyo Stock Exchange is now being sold down in a way comparable to the Lehman Shock.
This is what one calls real stupidity.
It is the symbol of a system that, for more than twenty years, has been unable to say anything to the world.
For example, why can they not declare something like the following to the world.….
You elites of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.….
In light of this great disaster caused by one of the largest upheavals of the earth in human history, we will suspend operations for the time being.….
Japan will overcome this unprecedented catastrophe faster than any other nation, and by mobilizing the full strength of our economy at once, we will restore the power of our nation, so please watch over us.
We will resume operations as soon as circumstances have settled.….
Why can they not say this.
How great the difference is, whether or not one raises that single voice.….

As everyone had predicted regarding the stock market, construction-related shares soared, with Kajima at the forefront, and one after another they hit their daily limit highs.

At that point, one should turn disaster into blessing, judge the timing, and move in to buy all at once.….
Japan will not lose, and Japanese decency will overcome even a catastrophe of this kind, the worst in human history.
Let us make the world recognize once again that the excellence of Japanese companies, grounded in this greatest decency in human history, is of the highest level in the world.

Truly, the brats of twentieth-century capitalism were making Nikkei futures swing wildly even during the lunch break.

Compared with the hearts of people around the world in response to this unprecedented catastrophe….
Even Russia and China….
The behavior of twentieth-century capitalism….
I think it proves that democracy and capitalism are things fundamentally at odds with one another.

Even if one interprets it in the most favorable way.….
That they were measuring the damage this event would inflict on the economy.….

Should not politics have done it? you ask.….
There is no way an executive leadership that should in truth have resigned even on March 11 could have done such a thing.….
Their calculation was only how to keep their own heads attached.….
And how to stage that effectively, using even this catastrophe itself….
Those “vulgar” people, who first and foremost seize even such a catastrophe as their own opportunity, could never make the world’s highest and most “refined” voice resound across the world.

The one who made it resound was, among my readers….
An unknown person, like someone now pursuing the studies he ought to pursue at Harvard Kennedy School, who wrote words on a blog….
