The Forced K-1 Event and the Lax Three-Day Weekend Led to the Rise in Tokyo Infections
This article argues that the forced K-1 event held at Saitama Arena on March 22, 2020, and the crowds that went out to restaurants and bars during the three-day weekend from March 20 to 22, were major factors behind the rise in infections in Tokyo. It sharply criticizes NHK, television media, the Asahi Shimbun, and opposition politicians for focusing on attacks against the administration and failing to instill adequate vigilance among the public.

The number of infected people being reported day after day is exactly the same as the figures in the graph shown by the expert who appeared on television the day after K1 began on March 22, saying that it would appear as an increase in infected people.
NHK reports nothing whatsoever about that fact.
However, the number of infected people now being reported day after day as the number of infections in Tokyo increases is exactly the same as the figures in the graph shown by the expert who appeared on the Fuji Television wide-show hosted by Ando on the day after K1 was held on March 22.
That expert said that after a certain period of time, namely now, it would appear as an increase in infected people.
The forced holding of K1 is the largest factor.
As for the other factor, the television media are pretending not to know that they bear responsibility for it.
It is no exaggeration whatsoever to say that among the people and those connected with them who control the news programs at the foolish NHK, where Chairman Maeda and those below him think that criticizing the government and the administration is what the media are for, there is not a single proper journalist.
Viewers surely remember that Arima of Watch 9 repeatedly and persistently criticized Prime Minister Abe’s request to close schools.
On one occasion, he interrogated an expert in a tone that seemed to be spitting fire, saying, “How long should we wait? If we endure for another ten days, will that be enough?”
At that time, this column also pointed out his stupidity and childishness.
At a time when the entire nation should have been united, as Taiwan was, in taking thorough measures, the opposition parties kept the prime minister and the core of the administration confined in the Diet, spending almost all of their time on the cherry-blossom-viewing party and even on reviving the Moritomo and Kake issues.
In the end, Sugio, the lowest kind of human being, who leaked information to Aum, which led to the murder of a lawyer and his family, who in Matsumoto made an unrelated citizen into the culprit of the sarin incident, and who in the Moritomo and Kake issue hanged up a non-career official who later committed suicide in a face-to-face meeting, saying that they would not let him go or end the meeting until he told the truth, used a fabricated article in Weekly Post as material to denounce Prime Minister Abe’s wife, Akie Abe, in the Diet.
The foolish media and opposition political operators made Tokyo residents say things such as “self-restraint fatigue,” and during the three-day weekend from March 20 to 22, they caused them to pour into izakaya that were the very embodiment of the three Cs.
Although it is self-evident that this was the second factor, they are pretending not to know it.
In addition to the manner in which K1 was forcibly held, the program at the beginning also showed standing bars that were the very embodiment of the three Cs filled to capacity, and Tokyo-style eating and drinking establishments, where there was virtually no space between customers, also filled to capacity.
What a customer in the latter place said in response to an interview was itself the thinking of a human being produced by the mass media made up of pseudo-moralism.
“If we do nothing but self-restraint, I thought it might instead have a bad effect on the economy……”
After all, since the beginning of the new year, newspapers such as the Asahi Shimbun had devoted most of their pages to denouncing the Abe administration over such matters as the cherry-blossom-viewing party.
It is only natural that the people were unable to take thorough measures against the new virus, and that during the three-day weekend from March 20 to 22, they stopped restraining themselves and became frivolous.
In other words, the Asahi Shimbun and the like, television wide-shows, NHK’s Watch 9 and others are no different from wide-shows.
No, since they are programs made by imitating wide-shows, the period from March 20 to March 22 proved that they are ruining Japan.
The forced holding of K1 was the very manifestation of the defects of postwar Japan.
