We Must Not Allow the Origin of the Wuhan Virus to Be Rewritten
Although the Chinese government mishandled its initial response and allowed the Wuhan virus to spread not only throughout China but across the world, it is trying to shift responsibility to other countries and create international opinion that only China is right. Through Yoshiko Sakurai’s essay, this article argues why the rewriting of facts and the fabrication of history must not be allowed.

The Chinese government mishandled its initial response and is the very party responsible for spreading the virus not only throughout China but across the entire world.
Nevertheless, it is shifting responsibility onto other countries and trying to create international opinion that only China is right.
The following is from an essay by Yoshiko Sakurai, published at the beginning of this month’s issue of the monthly magazine WiLL, which is filled with essays essential for every Japanese citizen to read, under the title “Worrying about the Weakness of Our Nation.”
Yoshiko Sakurai is one of the representative figures of the “national treasures” as defined by Saicho.
Everyone should be grateful for her arguments, which are also a supreme contribution to Japan.
At the same time, compared with Ms. Sakurai, who is truly a patriot and a journalist, one must feel, with anger from the bottom of one’s heart, that the people who call themselves editorial writers and anchors at Asahi and television media such as NHK are so terrible in quality that it is no exaggeration to call them criminals against the nation.
We must have not only “kindness” but also “strength.”
Let us be reborn as a nation capable of independence, starting with constitutional revision.
Do not allow facts to be rewritten.
The Chinese government mishandled its initial response and is the very party responsible for spreading the virus not only throughout China but across the entire world.
Nevertheless, it is shifting responsibility onto other countries and trying to create international opinion that only China is right.
Xinhua wrote in an editorial, “We have the right to say that the United States should apologize to China and the world should thank China.”
As everyone knows, although the virus originated in Wuhan, the Chinese side continues information manipulation as if it had originated in the United States.
By 2049, the centennial of the founding of the state, the Chinese Communist Party aims to stand towering among the peoples of the world as the leader of the earth, which it calls a community of shared future for mankind.
Do they, who long for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, firmly believe that something as ominous as the Wuhan virus must not be a product of the Chinese world?
China, as the leader of the world, is a model country that wisely overcame the Wuhan virus, and the qualification to be the world’s leader belongs not to the United States but to China.
Having fixed its mind on that idea, it is trying openly to fabricate history for that purpose.
Faced with such shameless lies, Japanese people, who were taught that one must not lie, are bewildered, not knowing how to react to Chinese lies.
They give a bitter smile and sigh deeply.
The fabrication of history is their specialty.
The “Nanjing Massacre” and the “comfort women sex slaves” have also been fabricated by China.
At first, Japanese people thought that because these were too obvious as lies, the fabrication of history by the Chinese would be forgotten with the passage of time.
However, if a lie is repeated one hundred times, it becomes truth, and a certain international opinion that believes China’s claims has been formed.
This time, we must absolutely not allow the origin of the Wuhan virus to be rewritten.
For that reason too, we should call it not by the confusing name “COVID-19,” but by the name “Wuhan virus.”
