Genius Means Pursuing Mastery Without Malice—Reflections on Conversations Among Baseball’s Greats

2024-02-19
A few days ago, the first thing I discovered—or rather, what appeared on YouTube—was “Furuta’s Equation.”
Having been a Nagashima fan—that is, a baseball fan—since before I started elementary school, I found it so fascinating that I became seriously sleep-deprived for two days.
From the third day onward, I decided to adopt the tactic of watching immediately after dinner and stopping early.
On the fourth day, I decided to watch at lunchtime, but this time it was an episode of Uehara’s “Zatsudan Damashii,” in which he spoke with Hideki Matsui in New York to celebrate the channel surpassing 550,000 subscribers.
Naturally, I ended up watching the entire thing.
Then came this morning.
After “Asa 8” ended, what appeared on YouTube was an episode of “Matsuzaka Channel” featuring Egawa as a guest, with a title about discussing Roki Sasaki’s extraordinary ability.
Until a short while ago, I was thoroughly enjoying the entire episode.
They are geniuses of professional baseball.
It would be no exaggeration to say that merely becoming a first-team professional baseball player is more difficult than gaining admission to the University of Tokyo.
Becoming a truly elite player, moreover, is precisely as rare as the emergence of a genius.
As I have mentioned several times, countless people enter and graduate from the University of Tokyo and similar institutions, yet there are mountains of peculiar characters among them.
The reason conversations among the geniuses of professional baseball are so fascinating is that they have no malice.
An academic genius, for example, thinks about pursuing scholarship to its utmost.
Learning what one does not know… pursuing scholarship further and further.
That is the supreme joy and pleasure.
For some days now, I have continued checking the criminal acts of search interference that come to my attention and working to republish the articles.
Geniuses are people entirely free of malice—that is, evil hearts or thoughts.
Meanwhile, the criminal who has continued interfering with searches every day since June 1, 2011, right up to the present, is the complete opposite.
Tadao Umesao, a great genius born in Kyoto, discerned through several years of fieldwork conducted while living in those places that the essence of China and the Korean Peninsula was “bottomless evil” and “plausible lies.”
That this criminal is a person possessing the essence Umesao identified—in other words, someone with nothing but an evil heart—is immediately apparent from the examples below.
Even just a few examples from this morning reveal this state of affairs.
The way such crimes continue against more than roughly half of the over 200,000 chapters is a manifestation of “bottomless evil” and “plausible lies,” and the very height of evil.
Upon learning this, might Tokura of Keidanren and others finally realize just how dangerous contact with China and the Korean Peninsula is?
In their case, however, they may already have fallen into honey traps or money traps.
As readers know, unless the two regions mentioned above cease their Nazism in the name of anti-Japanese education, I put into practice my determination never to go to either of them.
In other words, I will never visit either of these two regions in my lifetime.
