NHK Watch 9 and the Perverse Slogan of “Individuals Over the State”: The Decay of Public Broadcasting Under Arima and Wakuda

During the Wuhan virus crisis, while the Japanese people were being asked to exercise self-restraint, NHK’s Watch 9 proudly aired the leftist slogan of “individuals over the state.” As pachinko parlors continued to operate openly across the country, the program remained silent toward those who deserved criticism and instead repeated attacks on the government. This essay criticizes Arima, the use of Ian Bremmer, the impression left by Wakuda, and the anti-Japanese nature of NHK’s news programming.

Pachinko parlors are openly operating in various places.
It is no exaggeration at all to say that those who are encouraging and emboldening them are NHK’s Watch 9.

This is what I have become convinced of after watching NHK Watch 9 over the past several days.
To begin with, regarding the anchor Arima, when NHK began a news program at 11 p.m. that seemed to imitate commercial broadcasters, it was Arima who was in charge of it together with Kuwako.
I now think with conviction that Okoshi may be exerting considerable influence in NHK’s news department.
Arima and Kuwako are, so to speak, people of the Okoshi faction.
That strange 11 p.m. news program was a training program, pushed by Okoshi, in order to install the two of them as hosts of Watch 9.
They were arbitrarily using the public airwaves to train those two.
The citizens who were forced to watch such a training program were the ones made fools of.
Their characteristic is a masochistic view of history.
As a result, they are hardened in an ideology that regards the state as “evil” to an unbelievable degree.
As for Arima, my physiognomic judgment of him was entirely correct.
Arima, whose essence is that of a red union activist itself, repeatedly uses Ian Bremmer, who resembles him even in facial impression, whenever something happens.
Under the pretext of some topic, he conducts crude and simple interviews in which the predetermined harmony is perfectly visible:
the purpose is to make the interviewee state the conclusion with which they want to brainwash the Japanese people.
Earlier this week, the conclusion of the interview Arima conducted with Bremmer was, unbelievably:
individuals over the state.
Arima proudly presented that conclusion to the viewers.
His fellow hosts nodded in agreement as if deeply impressed.
Could there be a more foolish program than this?
It was broadcast during Golden Week, when all citizens were practicing self-restraint.
Pachinko parlors are openly operating in various places.
It is no exaggeration at all to say that those who are encouraging and emboldening them are NHK’s Watch 9.
As proof, Arima, whose trade is to criticize the government, that is, the Japanese state, with a strange attitude and a downturned mouth, saying to the government at every opportunity,
“Please do this,”
“I think you should do that,”
does not say a single critical word about the outrageous behavior of the pachinko parlors this time.

“Individuals over the state.”
Arima and those like him are so hardened in their masochistic view of history, and in the childish ideology that the state is evil and they themselves are right, that they do not even understand how absurd it is to say such a worn-out leftist phrase now of all times.
To begin with, Arima, Ian Bremmer, and those like them are typical examples of people who could never become prime ministers or presidents, even if they stood on their heads.
They are great fools who mistake casual reporting and the presentation of their own distorted ideology as conclusions for journalism.
Their crime is deep, and it is no exaggeration to say that they are among the most malicious people.
In terms of the coronavirus disaster, if the Japanese people had been the kind of people who, like them, thought that individuals were more important than the state, Japan’s medical system would have collapsed by now and Japan would have become the world’s largest infected country.
In terms of China, not only would the Senkaku Islands have already been violated, Japan would already have been under Chinese control.

Today, I said this to a friend who is a serious reader:
“NHK is a strange organization.
In its news programs, it has a masochistic view of history, criticizes the government, treats the state as evil, and believes that it alone is right.
On the other hand, NHK continues to produce programs with a Japanese rural character.
The foremost example of such a rural Japanese program is probably ‘Tsurube’s Salute to Families.’
Its posture is at the opposite pole from intelligence, and it is no exaggeration to say that it is a program at the level of saying Japanese people are foolish and good-natured.
Toward those good-natured citizens who do not understand things, Arima and others, and Takeda as well, frequently use Ian Bremmer, Koichi Nakano, and others to preach sermons.
No, to brainwash them.
That is the true state of NHK, and perhaps its news programs and the variety programs it produces are two sides of the same coin.”

Last night, too, was terrible.
It was clear that Arima and the others, unbelievably, place Germany above Japan.
When he was hosting Watch 9, Okoshi said in front of Kang Sang-jung, whom he had invited as a guest commentator:
“I truly respect Kang Sang-jung.”
After that, Kang Sang-jung not only appeared constantly on NHK, but, unbelievably, was even used as the host of an art program for half a year or a year, for what is called one television season.
Among viewers who had thought that NHK’s real strength lay in its art programs, and in its nature documentary programs that made use of its accumulated visual technology, there must be many, like me, who stopped watching NHK’s art programs altogether after that.
I believe Masayuki Takayama wrote something similar.
Looking at last night’s posture, it was clear that Arima, unbelievably, places Germany above Japan.
In the next chapter, I will make clear how malicious the reporting was that made it seem as if Germany’s response to the Wuhan virus disaster was superior to Japan’s.
But it was also exposed that Arima, too, is under the influence of Kang Sang-jung.
Probably Okoshi, Arima, and those like them frequently interact with Kang Sang-jung.
In other words, there is no doubt that they are caught not only in Chinese propaganda, but also in Korean propaganda.

Regarding Arima and Wakuda, the opinions I found in Yahoo News a little while ago, when I forgot Wakuda’s name and searched for it, hit the mark.

First, regarding Arima.
As others have said, you do not need to state your own opinions.
Also, I think you should stop turning your mouth downward at the end of your remarks.
I do not think he intends it that way, but to viewers, it looks as if he is speaking from above.

As for Wakuda, surely everyone thinks the same.
Her unnecessarily delayed way of speaking, dry voice, and suspicious expressions are extremely unpleasant to watch.
Take a look at SukiKirai.com once.
It seems that everyone feels the same way, so perhaps she should correct it.
Is it not only NHK’s upper management, who understand nothing about viewers’ feelings, that thinks she is an ace?
She feels aloof.
Her voice is thin and small.
She feels cold.
She seems to lack range.
She has no expression and seems robotic.
She makes coronavirus topics feel even darker.
Nothing comes across.
She pauses slightly before delivering new items, so the flow is poor.

As for Watch 9,
the media that have been controlled by a tiny number of anti-Japanese ideologues of lies, fabrication, and image manipulation will become obsolete.
Before long, no one will watch them.
People are beginning to realize that the antique-like anti-Japanese ideology that has continued since just after the war has been built upon lies and fabrications.
It is of no use whatsoever to the Japanese people.
It cannot create new value.
Television, radio, and media that have been controlled by a tiny minority will become obsolete.

It has become an extremely loose program.
It looks lukewarm, as if they are only playing house.
Everything is mismatched and unpleasant.
I have watched it for many years, but it is now at its worst.
It is truly regrettable.
Is it because of the coronavirus?
