音楽は、ラヴェルのピアノ曲集《鏡》から「洋上の小舟」。
アンドレ・クリュイタンス指揮、パリ音楽院管弦楽団による、7分52秒の演奏です。
駿河湾の青、海上を渡る光、三保の松原の松並木、そして日本平から望む富士山。
ラヴェルが音によって描き出した、光と波と風の絶え間ない揺らめきが、2025年6月5日の三保の松原と日本平の眺望に、見事に重なりました。
クリュイタンスの演奏には、過度な誇張がありません。
それでいて、海面を渡る光、波のうねり、遠くに広がる水平線までが、驚くほど鮮明に立ち現れます。
その見事な演奏と、三保の松原、日本平、駿河湾、富士山を捉えた私の写真が共鳴し、この作品は、私の写真作品の中でも最高傑作の一つになりました。
明日の沖澤のどか指揮、京都市交響楽団の演奏会に向けた予習を兼ねた作品でもあります。
しかし、単なる予習のための映像ではありません。
フランス音楽の精髄を知り尽くしたクリュイタンスの音楽と、日本を代表する眺望が出会った、独立した一つの芸術作品です。

This work consists of 111 photographs of Suruga Bay and Mount Fuji, taken at Miho no Matsubara and Nihondaira on June 5, 2025.
The music is Une barque sur l’océan from Maurice Ravel’s piano suite Miroirs, performed by the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire under André Cluytens.
The performance lasts 7 minutes and 52 seconds.
The blue expanse of Suruga Bay, light moving across the sea, the pine trees of Miho no Matsubara, and Mount Fuji viewed from Nihondaira…
The ceaseless movement of light, waves, and wind expressed in Ravel’s music merges perfectly with the magnificent landscape I photographed on that day.
There is no excessive exaggeration in Cluytens’s interpretation.
Yet the light crossing the surface of the water, the rise and fall of the waves, and even the distant horizon emerge with astonishing clarity.
The magnificence of this performance and the beauty of my photographs of Miho no Matsubara, Nihondaira, Suruga Bay, and Mount Fuji resonate with one another.
The result is one of the finest masterpieces among my photographic works.
This work also serves as preparation for tomorrow’s concert by the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra conducted by Nodoka Okisawa.
It is not, however, merely a preparatory video.
It is an independent work of art born from the meeting of Cluytens’s profound understanding of French music and one of Japan’s most magnificent landscapes.
