This article criticizes Japanese television coverage of the “Go To Campaign” during the COVID-19 crisis, including the extensive reporting of the Mutsu mayor’s claim that the campaign would cause a “man-made disaster.”
It also examines the conduct of TV Asahi and NHK and argues that the Japanese media failed to question the responsibility of the Chinese Communist Party regime.

The first half of this chapter was written in July 2020 concerning Japanese television coverage of the “Go To Campaign.”
It criticizes television broadcasters for prominently featuring the mayor of Mutsu, Aomori Prefecture, who described the campaign as a “man-made disaster,” as well as the reporting of TV Asahi’s daytime information programs.
The second half republishes a chapter originally released on April 28, 2020.
It discusses the conduct of NHK and other Japanese media organizations, as well as Japan’s political, business, academic, and legal establishments, which, in the author’s view, refused to directly question the responsibility of the Chinese Communist Party regime even though the novel coronavirus spread to the world from China.

Who, exactly, from anywhere in Japan would travel to the city of Mutsu in Aomori Prefecture as a tourist?
The bias of the Japanese television media has gone beyond all normal bounds when it gives a young upstart, described as the mayor of this city and unknown to almost everyone in Japan, a platform from which to declare that the “Go To Campaign will cause a man-made disaster.”
At present, the only television programs I watch are NHK’s news programs and TV Tokyo’s World Business Satellite.
A search revealed that the present mayor’s father had also served as mayor of Mutsu and that, after his father died while in office, the son succeeded him.
It is, so to speak, the familiar pattern.
The present mayor attended Aomori High School and then Tohoku University.
Both Edano and this young man are people who diminish the reputation of Tohoku University.
After all, Tohoku University stands directly in front of my own former school, and more than one hundred of its graduates proceed to that university every year.
Whether it is the University of Tokyo or Tohoku University, this is another demonstration that not every graduate is necessarily outstanding.
The day before yesterday, the governor of Tokyo said, “The number of people whom we cannot contact is not several hundred. It is one.”
I therefore wondered whether some worthless daytime television program had fabricated a story in order to attack the government.
Yesterday, I learned on the internet that an employee of TV Asahi named Tamagawa had apparently broadcast fabricated information on one of the network’s daytime programs.
Why should TV Asahi not have its broadcasting license revoked?
The only people who would suffer if the network disappeared would be perhaps five hundred television entertainers and a limited number of its employees.
By contrast, countless business operators throughout Japan could be driven to the brink of bankruptcy by the network’s fabricated reporting.

I am republishing a chapter originally released on April 28, 2020.
I am working while watching NHK’s News Watch 9, and perhaps the current situation exists precisely because of the manner in which NHK conducts itself.
I am convinced that Japan’s mass media, political establishment, business community, academic world, and legal profession are probably more deeply subject to Chinese influence operations than those of any other country in the world.
This viral disaster was brought to the world entirely from China.
That is not the only issue.
What is completely absent is the perspective that this was a crime brought upon the world by the evil of one-party Communist rule, together with any anger over that fact.
The fundamental position from which the matter is being discussed is mistaken.
Because the essential questions of who, what, when, where, why, and how are being deliberately suppressed, dubious individuals are also able to operate in the shadows.
Japan should, in fact, have been the first country in the world to begin calculating the damages to be claimed from China.
Consider what has happened.
It was China that buried Chinese poison-gas weapons in the ground, fabricated the claim that they had been left there by the Japanese military, obtained the cooperation of the Asahi Shimbun in publicizing the claim throughout the world, and forced Japan to pay as much as one trillion yen in connection with this single matter.

Attacks exploiting erroneous reporting about the descriptions contained in history textbooks, led by the Asahi Shimbun.
Through repeated fabrications, defamation, and denunciation, it was none other than China—the Chinese Communist Party, or CCP—that extracted astronomical sums of money from Japan.
It is also an undeniable fact that Japan has never uttered a word of protest against China’s anti-Japanese education and textbooks, which completely distort and fabricate history.
What extraordinary conduct from a state broadcaster.
What a pathetic country.
What a foolish country.
