Those Fingers Were Moving Democracy—My Regret at Looking Down on Mobile Email
2010-9-6
I reflect on the following
Every day, on my journeys to and from the subway not only inside the subway trains but on the way to and from the ticket gates
While walking so many people that it would hardly be an exaggeration to say most people are typing emails
On their mobile phones reading them
I had thought disapprovingly is it really necessary to go that far until yesterday
That it is precisely because they train their fingers like that every day that they become those overwhelming voices
In the live reporting from the scene
Please go right ahead train your fingers without wasting even a spare moment so that whenever the need arises
You can let us experience the full joy of democracy as we did yesterday
For having criticized you from on high from a position like that of an Asahi editorial writer until now
I am ashamed.
For I who cannot even photograph a shrike perched on a cherry-tree branch(despite having bought a mobile phone called “Instant Shot”)
Cannot convey the sense of being there at the scene.
