Tokyo and Osaka, the Two Wheels That Sustained Japan—The Mass Media Turned Japan into a “Unicycle”
2010-11-1
The reason Japan was able to become one of the great powers after the Meiji Restoration, and to achieve its miraculous postwar recovery…was that Japan was a stable…two-wheeled automobile = passenger car…with a strong workforce = diligent and capable workers…with Tokyo as the capital of eastern Japan and Osaka as the capital of western Japan.
More than 20 years ago, Japan became a unicycle…the ones who made it so were you, the mass media.…
As I have mentioned time and again (please refer to the relevant chapters)
A unicycle, used for circus tricks or ridden by some children…this is precisely what idiotic television has kept doing…
A unicycle ridden by certain entertainment agencies and performers who could hardly be called, even as flattery, intellects representative of Japan…who seem to be bundles of egoism.
My use of the circus as an analogy here has nothing whatsoever to do with people involved in the circus…and I am someone who loves the circus…
I am referring only to where unicycle riders can be found, so please do not take offense.
This unicycle has inflicted losses of some 900 trillion yen on the nation.
