If the Internet Had Existed Before the War, Japan’s History Would Have Been Different—Words for Hu Jintao and a Question for the Mass Media
2010-11-8
What I wrote in the email I sent to Mr. Levin, who was president of Yale University (please read the relevant chapter), or my statement that I would, at any time, write a sentence that cuts into the heart of America, China, or Russia… (please read the relevant chapter) was no idle boast.
The text I begin writing to President Hu Jintao will include the following…
If you continue as you are now, you cannot criticize or condemn Japan over war…
Because you are behaving in ways far worse than prewar Japan did…
At the same time, I think… if the Internet had existed before the war, Japan’s history would have been different, too.
It is time to think seriously about what was wrong with the mass media up to now,
“Until I gained access to various kinds of information on the Internet, I thought Japan was responsible for everything bad in the world.”
Now, at this very moment, we are in the midst of the 21st century… That is what Mr. An Ti’s words are telling us.
It goes without saying by now that the reason for that failure lay in the press club system.
And that television is beyond the pale.
