China’s Subversive Campaign Against Japan’s Linear Shinkansen—Environmental Pseudo-Morality, Technology Theft, and Political Infiltration
This article exposes China’s interference in Japan’s Linear Shinkansen project, highlighting how “environmental concerns” were weaponized by Shizuoka Governor Kawakatsu to delay construction.
It documents China’s ongoing theft of Japanese high-speed rail and linear-motor technologies, the luring of Japanese engineers, and the military applications of superconducting and electromagnetic systems—including railguns and electromagnetic carrier catapults.
The essay further reveals the CCP’s infiltration tactics, corporate monitoring, and exploitation of foreign companies, while warning that Japan’s political and media silence stems from deep Chinese influence.
A critical analysis of China’s strategy, U.S.–China tensions, and the risks Japan faces in the coming decades.
The so-called environmental concerns, the ultimate form of pseudo-morality used by nations engaged in subversive operations, were invoked to lodge complaints such as “the water source of the Tenryu River will dry up,” obstructing the project.

The following chapter must be reread not only by the Japanese people but by people around the world.
I now republish, with paragraph adjustments, the chapter I originally issued on 2020-09-03 under the title:
“China once again is attempting to lure away a team of about 30 Japanese engineers working on JR Central’s Linear Shinkansen—developing a so-called ‘Chinese-made’ linear train using stolen technology; the superconducting and electromagnetic technologies of the linear system can be diverted directly to military use.”
The following is from this month’s issue of the monthly magazine Hanada, in an essay by Hiroshi Yuasa titled Xi Jinping, the Wounded Dragon Who Cannot Control Himself.
As readers know, I have long felt anger toward the governor of Shizuoka Prefecture, Kawakatsu, a man worthy of contempt and essentially a traitor.
Only now has what has been happening since the Linear Shinkansen—one of Japan’s greatest technological achievements—finally broke ground begun to make sense as a coherent pattern.
The events that delayed construction were the result of forces working in the shadows.
They are proof of the extent to which China has embedded its subversive operations into Japanese society.
First, for some reason, the Public Prosecutors Office moved to crack down on major construction companies.
I have already raised questions about this in past chapters.
Who, exactly, set the prosecutors in motion?
Next came the interference from Kawakatsu—an ardent pro-China figure known for admiring Mao’s Little Red Book.
He invoked “environmental concerns”—the ultimate weapon of pseudo-morality used by subversive states—claiming that “the water source of the Tenryu River will dry up,” and lodged frivolous objections.
As a result, he succeeded in delaying the completion of the Linear Shinkansen, which had taken many years of deliberation to approve.
Last night, while reading the essay mentioned above, I learned that my earlier suspicions about the true nature of these events were, in fact, entirely accurate.

Luring the Linear Team
FBI Director Wray also pointed out that China “skips the painstaking steps of innovation and steals intellectual property from American companies, then competes against the very companies it victimizes.”
Using the “Thousand Talents Program,” China lures outstanding researchers from abroad with generous compensation, bringing American knowledge and technology back to China.
China does not hesitate to steal classified information, even if it violates export controls.
It then uses the stolen technologies to sell products worldwide, driving the victimized American companies out of business in order to seize global markets.
Unfortunately, such cases are also seen in Japan.
China obtained the intellectual property of Japan’s Shinkansen technology, copied it outright, and falsely claimed it as “China’s original technology” before selling it globally.
And now, once again, China is attempting to lure away a team of about 30 Japanese engineers involved in JR Central’s Linear Shinkansen, paying them high salaries to develop a so-called “Chinese-made” linear train.
The superconducting and electromagnetic technologies used in linear trains can be diverted directly to military applications.
According to retired Vice Admiral Fumio Ota, a planning committee member of the Japan Institute for National Fundamentals, these technologies can be used for cheap, rapid-fire railguns (electromagnetic acceleration guns) and electromagnetic catapults for aircraft carriers.
Recently, China launched its third aircraft carrier.
News reports stated that it is the first Chinese carrier equipped with an electromagnetic catapult.
As the U.S. pointed out, Japanese technology was used in this development—yet Japanese politicians and China-dependent media such as Asahi Shimbun and NHK did not report a single word of this.
It is no exaggeration to say that Japan is a nation dying from pseudo-morality, an extreme form of foolishness.
The day will come when these advanced weapons will be aimed directly at the Japanese archipelago.
Signs of this are already visible in the activities of Chinese vessels in waters including Japan’s territorial sea—a fact any sensible citizen recognizes.
Only the traitorous politicians and media remain silent.
If their silence stems from being ensnared by Chinese honey traps or money traps, the situation is all the more pitiful and disastrous.
Furthermore, the technology used in Toyota’s fuel-cell vehicles—developed jointly with Chinese companies—can also be diverted to engines for quietly operating submarines.
China’s huge market may be attractive, but the extent to which Japan is sacrificing its national interests for short-term profit is staggering.
In addition, in China, even within foreign companies, if a certain number of Communist Party members exist, the company is required to host a Party branch—its “cell.”
All corporate activities are monitored, and all technological development is exposed.
Indeed, the Xi Jinping regime has run wild with military coercion, predatory diplomacy, unfair trade practices, violations of international law, cyberattacks, and diverse espionage activities.
Xi’s objective is singular: to realize his dream that by 2049, the 100th anniversary of the PRC’s founding, China will “tower above all other nations.”
The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the CCP’s uncivilized and lawless behavior.
The Trump administration elevated its approach toward the CCP from the former concept of “strategic competition” to “strategic threat,” accelerating counteractions.
Even if China underestimates the personal governing capacity of President Trump, it would be unwise to underestimate America’s national power or the U.S. military’s intent and capabilities.
With U.S.–China tensions at this level, conflict may erupt accidentally—and at times, the U.S. may even deliberately target China’s vulnerabilities.
Shifting from decades of “engagement policy” toward China to a strategy of countering and deterring China has become the implicit consensus of Washington’s diplomatic elite.
Therefore, even if a Democratic administration under Biden were to take office in November, the United States’ tough stance on China would not change.
