Japan’s Decency: Over a Thousand Years in the Making—A Nation Built by Ordinary People
2010-11-24
Japan’s decency was not created yesterday or today, but is the accumulation of more than 1,000 years…that is the true establishment.
An ignorant bumpkin who belongs to something is always afraid of the truth…it should go without saying why…he is afraid of having it exposed that whatever he belongs to is a complete fiction…something contrary to the truth.
My site power on FC2 is not just for show, and I think it may have risen even higher by now…I am convinced that my words are reaching America’s intellectual circles.
Even with CNN’s weeklong special on Japan that Shukan Gendai introduced, I think one cannot say that my “The Turntable of Civilization” has had no influence.
As for prime ministers changing so frequently, we need only say this…it is ordinary people who have built our country, not some single family, nor the mass media, nor the Liberal Democratic Party.
As a result, we adopted lifetime employment and created the postwar miracle, a technological powerhouse renowned throughout the world, but in the course of the “lost twenty years” created by mass-media totalitarianism…a consequence of the foolish commercialism…that your twentieth-century capitalism produced…we adjusted everything to your way of doing things.
Results above all else…in particular, managers are deemed failures unless they improve business performance during their term—that is, within a single fiscal year…management from a short-term perspective…it could also be said that these twenty years have been a period in which the voices insisting that this was right grew louder…as a result of accepting it almost 100 percent,
We, one of the world’s most ethnically homogeneous peoples, all turn in that direction to a far greater extent than you do, so we simply say NO to a prime minister who cannot deliver results even after six months.
It is perfectly natural, and nothing to disparage ourselves over.
We are simply practicing capitalism that delivers short-term results more than anyone else in the world.
We need only tell the world, “Japan is the strictest country in the world…unless you deliver visible results within six months, you are not good enough.”
Certain kinds of people are, for some reason, afraid of examining the facts thoroughly…but the decency of the Japanese people was not created yesterday or today…it is not something so fragile that there is something that must be kept hidden.
In a country like this, the only people who would want to conceal facts or the truth are probably those who, although their livelihoods are sustained by the labor of the people…want to hide the fact that they continue to siphon off those people’s wealth.
