The Reality of Those Active in Okinawa— The “Other Reality” Reported by Newsweek —

Reexamining Newsweek’s feature “Okinawa: Another Reality,” this chapter exposes the organized mainland activist groups operating in Okinawa and the media narrative that uniformly labels them as “local opposition.”

There was someone who mainly quoted articles about the reality of those active in Okinawa.

Believing that all Japanese citizens once again need to know the contents of Newsweek, which accurately reported the reality of Okinawa that I had introduced, I searched for it.
While I had especially emphasized that the amount of tax money allocated to Okinawa is by far the highest nationwide, there was someone who mainly cited articles focusing on the reality of the people active in Okinawa.
It appears to be the blog of a person engaged in agriculture in Okinawa.
The reality of mainland “foreign units” reported by Newsweek.
At present, large numbers of mainland Japanese, calling themselves “supporters,” are steadily landing in Okinawa from across the country.
They arrive on the island accompanied by abundant funds and organized “units.”
They are, in fact, the secondary protagonists repeatedly clashing at Henoko and in front of the Schwab Gate.
Local newspapers and mainland media collectively report them as “citizen opponents,” yet their true nature has remained shrouded in darkness.
In reality, this is what people in media circles all know as an “open secret,” and they have simply continued to avert their eyes despite knowing it.
What the mass media wants is an “image.”
Specifically, an “image” of confrontation with power.
The image of “dictator Shinzo Abe” facing a solitary rebel, Mr. Takeshi Onaga, leading “All Okinawa,” is a picture the media finds highly appealing,
because reporting, “What, All Okinawa? No, that’s actually a large number of mainland leftists,” would not be good for business.
For the first time, Newsweek’s June 30, 2015 cover feature, “Okinawa: Another Reality,” reported the actual conditions of those previously treated as “the people whose names must not be spoken.”
To be continued.
