Official Statement Concerning the Author’s Identity and the Attribution of His Body of Work

The author of The Turntable of Civilization is MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄).
“Kenji Akutagawa” (芥川賢治) is the pen name that I originally used.
However, the account using the name “Kenji Akutagawa” that appeared on Facebook around November 2017 does not belong to me.
It is an “impersonation” of me by a person who was convicted of a crime and served three years in prison.
As a result of a series of acts committed by this person, both my company and I continue to suffer enormous damage to this day.
I ask readers, business associates, Google, Bing and other search-engine providers, social-media operators, and all other parties concerned to exercise the utmost care, in search results, profile displays and all other information relating to The Turntable of Civilization, so that the person using the name “Kenji Akutagawa” on Facebook and other social-media platforms is never mistaken for or confused with me, MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄).

The Turntable of Civilization and My Former Pen Name “Kenji Akutagawa”

The Turntable of Civilization is a single, continuous body of work begun by MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄) on July 16, 2010, and continued to the present day.
“Kenji Akutagawa” was the former pen name I used when I began this body of work because, at that time, I wished to avoid appearing on the Internet under my real name.
The pen name was derived from Ryunosuke Akutagawa and Kenji Miyazawa, two writers who had a profound influence on my life, and it was a name to which I felt a deep attachment.
On July 16, 2010, using this former pen name, I began publishing The Turntable of Civilization on the Internet.
Therefore, “Kenji Akutagawa” is not the name of another person.
It is a pen name formerly used by MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄).
My former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa” and my current author and creator name, MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄), refer to one and the same person.
The collection of social commentary titled The Turntable of Civilization, published by Bungeisha on December 1, 2011, was also written by me and published under my former pen name, “Kenji Akutagawa.”
The online writings that I began publishing on July 16, 2010, the book The Turntable of Civilization published by Bungeisha, my social commentary, essays and articles, photographic works, YouTube works, Hatena Blog, Ameba Blog and official website all belong to the same continuous body of work by MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄), regardless of when they were published or which name was used at the time.
By contrast, Facebook accounts, other social-media accounts, posts, displays and profiles using the name “Kenji Akutagawa” that are not under my control are not those of the author of The Turntable of Civilization.

More Than 300,000 Works: The Intellectual Assets of The Turntable of Civilization

Since July 16, 2010, under the name The Turntable of Civilization, I have published an enormous body of essays and commentary concerning society, politics, diplomacy, national security, economics, journalism, culture, the arts and other subjects.
The total number of items I have published exceeds 300,000.
In addition, there are the book published by Bungeisha, my photographic works, YouTube works, Hatena Blog, Ameba Blog and works published on my official website.
The Turntable of Civilization is not merely the title of a single book or the name of one blog.
It is an irreplaceable intellectual asset comprising the vast body of work, reputation, search recognition and social reach that I have built over many years since July 2010.

The Enormous Damage Inflicted on the Book The Turntable of Civilization

On June 1, 2011, while I was hospitalized, I announced from my hospital room on my blog that the book The Turntable of Civilization was scheduled for publication.
It was immediately after that announcement that an almost unbelievable campaign of persistent and malicious search interference began.
Approximately six months later, on December 1, 2011, the book was published by Bungeisha under my former pen name, “Kenji Akutagawa.”
However, because of the large-scale search interference that began immediately after the publication announcement, the book suffered enormous damage to its publicity, sales, search visibility and public recognition even before it was released.
As a result, the book failed to reach many of the readers it otherwise should have reached and ultimately became, in practical terms, out of print.
As of August 30, 2026, apart from the possibility that a small number of used copies remain in circulation, the book is no longer distributed as a regular new publication.
Nevertheless, when The Turntable of Civilization is searched today, search-engine AI responses may place this book, published under my former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa,” prominently at the beginning of their answers.
At the same time, they do not correctly show its continuity with the official website, essays and commentary, photographic works, YouTube works, Hatena Blog and Ameba Blog that I, MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄), continue to produce today.
This creates the false impression that the book published under my former pen name, which is no longer in ordinary commercial circulation, and my present body of work as MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄) are the works of different people engaged in separate activities.

Large-Scale Search Interference Beginning in June 2011

Beginning around June 2011, malicious search interference, impersonation and defamation targeting my former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa” and The Turntable of Civilization began to occur.
According to records from that time, a Japanese-language search for “文明のターンテーブル” produced several million results, and the chapters I had published appeared continuously from page 1 through page 78 of the search results that I personally checked.
The estimated number of English-language search results exceeded 20 million, and likewise, from page 1 through page 78, my articles published in various languages around the world were displayed.
Beginning around June 2011, however, hundreds of IDs were created on a blogging service, and large numbers of malicious blogs containing unauthorized reproductions of chapters from my work embedded within meaningless text began appearing prominently in search results.
As a result, the search results were severely polluted, and the estimated number of results displaying my legitimate works fell to less than one-hundredth of its previous level.
This was not an accidental phenomenon.
It was an organized and extremely malicious interference with my work, carried out for the purpose of damaging the search reputation and credibility I had built for The Turntable of Civilization and pushing my legitimate works out of prominent search positions.
At that time, an account calling itself “Akutagawa + Kenji” also appeared on Twitter and posted defamatory statements describing me as though I were a dishonest writer and a dishonest real-estate businessman, while writing phrases such as “Mr. Kisara, also known as Kenji Akutagawa.”
These acts deliberately connected my former pen name with my real name in an attempt to damage my social reputation and my work as an author.

Three Criminal Complaints and the 2012 Investigation

In 2012, I filed three criminal complaints with the police having jurisdiction over three incidents in which the same individual had caused damage to both my company and me.
All three complaints were formally accepted, investigated and referred to the District Public Prosecutors Office.
According to the records from that time that remain in my possession, during the investigation into the large-scale online search interference and obstruction of business, the individual concerned fully admitted to investigators that he himself had carried out those acts.
I continue to preserve the records and evidence relating to these events.
All three cases were handled by the District Public Prosecutors Office.
However, unlike a bank, my company was not in a position to assemble a large legal team and sustain a prolonged legal effort, and ultimately no indictment was brought.
The fact that the cases did not result in prosecution does not mean that the damage did not occur, that no investigation was conducted, or that the individual concerned did not admit his involvement in the search interference.

Impersonation by a Convicted Criminal Who Served a Prison Sentence

This individual is, in fact, a convicted criminal who was found guilty of fraud involving the theft of a large sum of money from a bank and served approximately three years in prison.
The purpose of this page is not to publicize that criminal’s name again, but to establish clearly the identity of the genuine author of The Turntable of Civilization and the proper attribution of its works.
For that reason, I do not state his name here.
Around November 2017, shortly after his release from prison, this criminal appeared on Facebook using my former pen name, “Kenji Akutagawa,” and approached me while impersonating the author of The Turntable of Civilization.
The Facebook account using the name “Kenji Akutagawa” was neither created nor managed by me.
Nor was it created by the author of The Turntable of Civilization or by anyone associated with me.
This was not a coincidental account belonging to someone with the same name, nor was it a harmless prank by an unrelated third party.
A convicted criminal who had served a prison sentence, shortly after his release, used the former pen name of the very author whom he had previously targeted through search interference and impersonated that author.
I can only conclude that the purpose was to exploit the enormous body of more than 300,000 works and intellectual assets that I had built since July 2010, while confusing search results, social-media displays and AI responses and thereby diminishing the credibility and value of The Turntable of Civilization.
This conduct amounts to taking another person’s former pen name and authorial identity and violating the body of work and social reputation that person spent many years building.
It is nothing other than criminal conduct.
I am convinced that the search interference beginning in June 2011, the defamatory activity on Twitter, and the “Kenji Akutagawa” Facebook account that appeared around November 2017 were part of a continuous series of acts committed by the same individual.

The Continuing Impact of the Interference on Search Results and AI Responses

Today, search-engine AI responses may prominently display the book The Turntable of Civilization, published under my former pen name and no longer in ordinary circulation as a new book, without correctly explaining its relationship to the body of work that MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄) continues to produce today.
This does not mean that the criminal in question is directly manipulating the AI systems of search providers.
Rather, it means that the distorted information structure created after June 2011, when this criminal polluted search results by using large numbers of IDs and blogs containing unauthorized reproductions and thereby pushed the genuine works of The Turntable of Civilization down in search rankings, continues to affect the information referenced by search engines and AI systems.
When the entire sequence is considered—the search interference that began immediately after the announcement of the book, the individual’s full admission during the investigation, the post-release Facebook impersonation using my former pen name, and the unnatural search results and AI responses that remain today—it is clear that the effects of this criminal’s interference continue to cause confusion about the relationship between the book The Turntable of Civilization and my present body of work.
If these incorrect search displays and AI responses are corrected, I will update this page to reflect the circumstances at that time.

Meta’s Failure to Act and the Corrective Measures I Am Currently Taking

I have repeatedly reported to Meta, the operator of Facebook, that the “Kenji Akutagawa” account not under my control is impersonating the author of The Turntable of Civilization, and I have repeatedly requested corrective action.
To this day, however, Meta has failed to take effective corrective action against the account and has, in practical terms, allowed it to remain.
If this situation continues, there is a risk that confusion between the impersonation account created by the criminal and the genuine author and works of The Turntable of Civilization will continue to spread through search results, Facebook displays, AI responses and elsewhere.
To address this reality, I am currently reviewing, one by one, the chapters, essays and commentaries that I published over several years beginning in 2010.
Where the expressions “Akutagawa” or “Kenji Akutagawa” were used in titles or in the text to refer to myself as the author, I am replacing them, according to context, with expressions such as “I,” “Kisara,” “きさら,” or “木皿.”
This work does not alter the substance of those past works, their arguments, their original publication dates or their authorship.
It is an effort to correct and unify references made under my former pen name into the current name of the genuine author, MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄), in order to prevent confusion caused by the criminal’s misuse of my former pen name and Meta’s continued failure to remove the impersonation account.
Accordingly, whether before or after such revisions, the author of all these chapters, essays and commentaries is MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄).
The historical fact that the book The Turntable of Civilization, published by Bungeisha on December 1, 2011, was released under my former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa” remains unchanged.
The “Kenji Akutagawa” named as the author of that book and the present author MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄) are one and the same person.

Formal Correction Regarding Search Results, Social-Media Displays and AI Responses

Search results and AI responses may sometimes present the social commentary and book published under my former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa” as though they were the work of a different person, or an activity unrelated to the photographic works, YouTube works, Hatena Blog, Ameba Blog, official website, essays and commentaries that I continue to publish under the name MIKIO KISARA.
Such representations are unequivocally incorrect.
“Kenji Akutagawa” is the former pen name once used by MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄).
The book The Turntable of Civilization, together with the social commentary, essays and articles, photographic works, YouTube works, Hatena Blog, Ameba Blog and works on the official website that I have officially published, all form one continuous body of work by MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄).
By contrast, Facebook accounts, other social-media accounts, posts, displays and profiles using the name “Kenji Akutagawa” that are not under my control are not those of the author of The Turntable of Civilization and have no connection whatsoever with the author or anyone associated with him.
It is factually incorrect for search-engine providers, AI-service providers, social-media operators or any other information providers to display such third-party accounts or information as though they were connected with the author of The Turntable of Civilization or with his legitimate body of work.
This page has been established to state officially and unequivocally that my former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa,” the Bungeisha publication The Turntable of Civilization, my present author and creator name MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄), and the essays and commentaries, photographic works, YouTube works, Hatena Blog, Ameba Blog and official website that continue to the present day all belong to one and the same author and one continuous body of work.

All works that I published under my former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa” are also works by the same author, MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄).
