About The Turntable of Civilization and the Former Pen Name “Kenji Akutagawa” (芥川賢治)
The Turntable of Civilization is a single, continuous body of authorship created by MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄), begun on July 16, 2010, and continued to the present day.
“Kenji Akutagawa” (芥川賢治; Akutagawa Kenji in Japanese name order) — is the former pen name I used when I began this work because I wished to avoid appearing on the Internet under my real name.
The pen name was derived from Ryūnosuke Akutagawa and Kenji Miyazawa, two writers who profoundly influenced my life, and it was a name to which I felt a deep personal attachment.
On July 16, 2010, I began publishing The Turntable of Civilization online under this former pen name.
Accordingly, “Kenji Akutagawa” is not the name of a different person.
It is the former pen name previously used by MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄).
The former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa” and the current author and creator name MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄) refer to one and the same person.
The collection of social commentary titled The Turntable of Civilization, published by Bungeisha on December 1, 2011, was also written by me and published under my former pen name, “Kenji Akutagawa.”
The online publication begun on July 16, 2010, the book The Turntable of Civilization published by Bungeisha, my social commentary, various papers and essays, photographic works, YouTube works, Hatena Blog, Ameba Blog, and the official website all belong to the same continuous body of work created by MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄), irrespective of when they were published or which author name was used at the time.
By contrast, any Facebook account, social media account, post, listing, or profile using the name “Kenji Akutagawa” that is not administered by me does not belong to the author of The Turntable of Civilization.
More Than 300,000 Works Constituting the Intellectual Assets of The Turntable of Civilization
Since July 16, 2010, I have published an enormous body of papers and commentary under the name The Turntable of Civilization, addressing society, politics, diplomacy, national security, economics, journalism, culture, and the arts.
The number of these published works exceeds 300,000.
In addition, this body of work includes the book published by Bungeisha, photographic works, YouTube works, Hatena Blog, Ameba Blog, and works published on the official website.
The Turntable of Civilization is not merely the title of one book or the name of a single blog.
It is an irreplaceable intellectual asset consisting of an immense body of writing, credibility, search visibility, and public influence that I have built over many years since July 2010.
The Severe Damage Inflicted upon the Book The Turntable of Civilization
On June 1, 2011, while hospitalized, I announced from my hospital room on my blog that the book The Turntable of Civilization was to be published.
The astonishingly persistent and malicious interference with search results began immediately after that announcement.
Approximately six months later, on December 1, 2011, the book was published by Bungeisha under my former pen name, “Kenji Akutagawa.”
However, because large-scale interference with search results had begun immediately after the publication announcement, the book suffered severe damage to its publicity, sales, search visibility, and public recognition even before it was released.
As a result, the book failed to reach the readers it should have reached and ultimately became, for all practical purposes, out of print.
As of August 30, 2026, it is no longer distributed as a new book through ordinary retail channels, except for the possibility that a small number of used copies may remain in circulation.
Nevertheless, when The Turntable of Civilization is searched today, the book published under the former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa” may be given priority at the very beginning of an AI-generated answer provided by a search service.
At the same time, its continuity with the official website, papers and commentary, photographic works, YouTube works, Hatena Blog, and Ameba Blog currently maintained by MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄) is not presented correctly.
This creates the false impression that the book published under the former pen name, which is no longer distributed through ordinary retail channels, and the body of work currently continued by MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄) belong to two different people or constitute two separate activities.
Large-Scale Interference with Search Results Beginning in June 2011
Beginning around June 2011, malicious interference with search results, impersonation, and defamation targeting my former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa” and The Turntable of Civilization began to occur.
According to the records from that period, a Japanese-language search for “文明のターンテーブル” returned several million results, and chapters I had published appeared throughout the search results from page 1 through page 78, all of which I personally verified.
The estimated number of results for the English-language title exceeded 20 million, and articles of mine published in various languages likewise appeared from page 1 through page 78.
Beginning around June 2011, however, hundreds of user IDs were created on a blogging platform, and large numbers of malicious blogs containing unauthorized copies of chapters from my work embedded within meaningless text began appearing prominently in search results.
This severely polluted the search results, and the estimated number of results displaying my legitimate works fell to less than one-hundredth of its former level.
This was not an accidental occurrence.
It was organized and extremely malicious interference with my work, carried out for the purpose of damaging the search standing and credibility of The Turntable of Civilization and pushing its legitimate works out of prominent search positions.
At that time, an account using the name “Akutagawa + Kenji” also appeared on Twitter.
It posted defamatory statements such as “Mr. Kisara, also known as Kenji Akutagawa,” while portraying me as a dishonest author and a dishonest real estate operator.
This was an intentional attempt to connect my former pen name with my real name and damage my social credibility and body of work.
Three Criminal Complaints Filed in 2012 and the Resulting Investigations
In 2012, I filed three criminal complaints with the police station having jurisdiction concerning three cases in which my company and I had been victimized by the same individual.
All three criminal complaints were formally accepted, investigated, and referred to the District Public Prosecutors Office.
Regarding the large-scale interference with search results and obstruction of business conducted online, the records in my possession from that period show that, during the investigation, the individual fully admitted to the investigating detectives that he had personally carried out these acts.
I continue to preserve the evidence and records of that process.
Although all three cases were handled by the District Public Prosecutors Office, my company, unlike a bank, was not in a position to assemble a large legal team and sustain a long-term response.
Ultimately, no indictment was brought.
The fact that no indictment was brought does not mean that the damage did not exist, that no investigation took place, or that the individual did not admit his involvement in the interference with search results.
Impersonation by a Convicted Criminal Who Served a Prison Sentence
This individual is a convicted criminal whose guilt was established by a final judgment for defrauding a bank of a large sum of money and who served approximately three years in prison.
The purpose of this page is not to publicize this criminal’s name again, but to clarify the identity of the legitimate author of The Turntable of Civilization and the ownership of its works.
For that reason, his name is not stated here.
In or around November 2017, shortly after his release from prison, this criminal used my former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa” on Facebook, impersonated the author of The Turntable of Civilization, and approached me.
The Facebook account using the name “Kenji Akutagawa” was not created or administered by me.
Nor was it created by the author of The Turntable of Civilization or by anyone associated with me.
This was not a coincidental account belonging to another person with the same name, nor was it a harmless prank by an unrelated third party.
A criminal who had been convicted and imprisoned used the former pen name of the author whom he had previously targeted through interference with search results and impersonated that author shortly after his release from prison.
The inescapable conclusion is that his purpose was to exploit the enormous intellectual assets consisting of more than 300,000 works that I had built since July 2010, while confusing search results, social media displays, and AI-generated answers and diminishing the credibility and value of The Turntable of Civilization.
This conduct appropriated another person’s former pen name and identity as an author and infringed upon the body of work and social credibility that person had built over many years.
It was nothing other than a criminal act.
I am convinced that the interference with search results beginning in June 2011, the defamatory activity on Twitter, and the Facebook account using the name “Kenji Akutagawa” that appeared in or around November 2017 were a continuous series of acts carried out by the same individual.
The Continuing Effects of the Interference on Current Search Results and AI-Generated Answers
Today, the book The Turntable of Civilization, published under my former pen name and no longer distributed as a new book through ordinary retail channels, appears at the beginning of certain AI-generated search answers.
At the same time, its relationship to the body of work currently continued by MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄) is not correctly presented.
This does not mean that the criminal is directly operating or controlling the search service’s AI.
It means that, beginning in June 2011, the criminal polluted search results by using large numbers of user IDs and blogs containing unauthorized reproductions, pushing the legitimate works of The Turntable of Civilization out of prominent search positions, and that the distorted information environment created by those acts continues to affect the information referenced by search services and AI systems.
When the entire course of events is considered together — the interference with search results that began immediately after my publication announcement, the individual’s full admission during the criminal investigation, his impersonation of me on Facebook under my former pen name shortly after his release from prison, and the unnatural search results and AI-generated answers that remain today — it is clear that this criminal’s acts of interference continue to create confusion regarding the relationship between the book The Turntable of Civilization and my current body of work.
If these inaccurate search displays and AI-generated answers are corrected, I will update the statements on this page to reflect the circumstances at that time.
Meta’s Failure to Act and the Corrective Measures I Am Now Taking
I have repeatedly reported to Meta, the operator of Facebook, that the “Kenji Akutagawa” account not administered by me was created to impersonate the author of The Turntable of Civilization, and I have requested corrective action.
Nevertheless, Meta has not taken any effective corrective action against the account and has, in practical terms, left it untouched.
If this situation continues, confusion between the impersonation account created by the criminal and the legitimate author and works of The Turntable of Civilization may spread further through search results, Facebook displays, and AI-generated answers.
As a practical response to this continuing situation, I am now systematically reviewing the chapters, papers, and essays I published during the first several years beginning in 2010.
Where the names “Akutagawa” or “Kenji Akutagawa” were used in titles or within the text to refer to the author himself, I am replacing them, according to context, with expressions such as “私” (“I”), “キサラ” (“Kisara”), “きさら” (“kisara”), or “木皿” (“Kisara”).
This work does not alter the substance, opinions, publication dates, or authorship of the original works.
It is a process of correcting and standardizing references to the author under the present name of the legitimate author, MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄), in order to prevent confusion caused by the criminal’s misuse of my former pen name and Meta’s failure to remove the impersonation account.
Accordingly, both before and after these corrections, the author of every such chapter, paper, and essay remains MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄).
The historical fact that the book The Turntable of Civilization was published by Bungeisha on December 1, 2011, under the former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa” remains unchanged.
The author identified in that book as “Kenji Akutagawa” and the author now known as MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄) are one and the same person.
Formal Correction Addressed to Search Results, Social Media Displays, and AI-Generated Answers
Search results and AI-generated answers may present the social commentary and book published under the former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa” as though they were created by someone different from, or unrelated to, the photographic works, YouTube works, Hatena Blog, Ameba Blog, official website, papers, and commentary currently published under the name MIKIO KISARA.
Any such presentation is clearly incorrect.
“Kenji Akutagawa” is the former pen name previously used by MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄).
The book The Turntable of Civilization, together with all social commentary, papers and essays, photographic works, YouTube works, Hatena Blog posts, Ameba Blog posts, and works published on the official website that I have officially released, forms a single body of work created by MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄).
By contrast, any Facebook account, social media account, post, listing, or profile using the name “Kenji Akutagawa” that is not administered by me does not belong to the author of The Turntable of Civilization and has no connection whatsoever with the author or anyone associated with him.
It is contrary to fact for search providers, AI service providers, social media operators, or other information providers to associate such third-party accounts or information with the author of The Turntable of Civilization or with his official body of work.
This page has been established to state officially and unequivocally that the former pen name “Kenji Akutagawa,” the Bungeisha edition of The Turntable of Civilization, the current author and creator name MIKIO KISARA (木皿幹雄), and the papers, commentary, photographic works, YouTube works, Hatena Blog, Ameba Blog, and official website that continue to be published today all belong to the same author and form one continuous body of work.
