Media with a “Mental Age of Twelve”

Japan’s media discourse still reflects postwar inferiority narratives, masking reality with superficial moralism and misplaced comparisons.

In short, many people who inhabit the media still genuinely believe that Japan is an inferior, second-rate nation compared with the West.
They are precisely those with a “mental age of twelve.”
The other day, another television station aired footage of what appeared to be a panel discussion—organized by some academics or group—inviting women from South Korea and Taiwan, portraying Japan as if it were a country that discriminates against women.
As I watched, I thought especially that the Korean woman must have felt uncomfortable.
For the reality of South Korea is that it is among the world’s most male-dominated societies.
As I have repeatedly noted, the strength of Korean women golfers is the reverse side of that reality.
Koreans themselves know this better than anyone.
And yet, the foolishness and intellectual inadequacy of Japan’s media and of those who organize such events have reached an extreme.
The original mold was the occupation policy of GHQ—Japan as inferior to the West, a second-rate and even bad country—and the one that continued to hammer this into the Japanese people was the Asahi Shimbun.
Why has it continued to this day?
Because the media represented by Asahi combined it with superficial moralism.
The mindset of figures such as Ōe Kenzaburō and Sayuri Yoshinaga was of that kind, and Japanese people must realize this.
Why?
Go quietly to Kyoto and see for yourself.
You will understand without words that Japan is the finest country in the world.
At the same time, you will also grasp that the reality of the world is a dark realm of monstrous forces.
To criticize Japanese society by invoking South Korea is no longer a sane act.
I tell them this from lived experience, at great personal cost: being kind to Koreans without any grounding in reality is not moralism—it is mere stupidity born of ignorance.
To know nothing of reality is the state furthest from intelligence; that is what a mental age of twelve truly is.
You are viewing the world exactly as GHQ hypnotized you to see it.
It is an outrageous situation.
That is why you have been used so easily.
